ARMENIAN PEACEKEEPERS TO SECURE MAZAR-I-SHARIF AIRPORT

81 Armenian peacekeepers are located at the Mazar-i-Sharif
militarybase. They started service on Tuesday under German command.

They willsecure the Mazar-i-Sharif airport and patrol control posts.

The Armenian Parliament ratified the agreement on increasing
thepeacekeeping forces in Afghanistan from 45 to 130 servicemen
andprolongation of their presence to December 31, 2012.

Another peacekeeping group has been serving under German command
atKunduz since 2010. A deal on the peacekeeping operation was signed
inOctober 2009.
