Nothing is different today that would make Armenian and Azerbaijan to
reach an agreement over a document that in different modifications
has been in circulation for the past years, a former presidential
aide says in an interview with the paper.
Gerard Libaridian, a Michigan University professor who between 1991
and 1997 served as an advisor to the then Armenian President Levon
Ter-Petrosyan, says Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s
style is that of the Turkish diplomacy when you single out a favorable
provision.
“Mammadyarov is a serious diplomat,” Libaridian says.”But he is not
alone in the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry; Deputy Foreign Minister
Araz Azimov too is a serious diplomat, and Azimov has said he saw no
sound grounds for optimism,” Libaridyan says.
