YEREVAN. – There are no prerequisites for early elections in Armenia
said Armenian Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan to May 23 press
conference, adding that early elections tend to harm the image
of Armenia.

The speaker confirmed the existence of the dialogue between government
and opposition but refrained from giving any estimation of its scales
and process.

Abrahamyan called on all political forces to begin the preparatory
works for 2012 Parliament Elections.

“If opposition wants early elections, good for them, we will be
preparing for 2012 elections,” added Abrahamyan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
