COSSACKS OF AZERBAIJAN TO FORM REGIMENT AS PART OF DEFENSE MINISTRY

The Russian information and cultural center in Baku hosted a
conference of Cossacks of Azerbaijan. The organization has 1,500
members. Cossack General Victor Mereshkin delivered a report at the
conference. According to him, Cossacks of Azerbaijan support the
country’s President, Ilham Aliyev.
On behalf of Cossacks, Mereshkin expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani
President for the permission to erect a monument to Cossack soldiers.
He said that they will apply to the Azerbaijani President with a
request on formation of Cossack regiment as part of the Defense
Ministry.
During the event, Mereshkin was reelected as Ataman of the Union of
Cossacks of Azerbaijan.
