Resolution: PACE refuses to recognize great famine in USSR as genocide of
Ukrainian people

Interfax-Ukraine Strasbourg, April 28 (Interfax) –

The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) has refused to recognize
the large-scale famine that took place in the Soviet Union during the 1930s
as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Only 21 assembly members voted for recognizing Holodomor as genocide of the
Ukrainian people, while 55 voted against corresponding amendments to the
draft resolution on the issue, an Interfax correspondent reported.

PACE will soon pass the resolution following a debate that has lasted for
over two hours.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
