YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 24, ARMENPRESS: In the ninth – semifinal round of the
international chess tournament in Linares Armenian Grand Master Levon
Aronyan played draw with black figures with Israeli Boris Gelfand. In
the other games of this round Russian Alexander Grishchuk took victory
over Bulgarian Veselin Topalov, and Azerbaijani Vugar Gashimov played
draw with Spanish Francisko Valekho Pons.
This is L. Aronyan’s regular ninth draw in this tournament. He
occupies the third place with 4, 5 points, conceding the 1-2nd places
to A. Grishchuk and V. Topalov, who gathered 5, 5 points each.
B. Gelfand and V. Gashimov share the 4-5th places with 4 points, F.
Valecho Pons occupies the last -6th place with 3, 5 points.
In the last -10th round, L. Aronyan will play with white figures with
V. Gashimov.
