Coach Jerry Tarkanian Vists Keyan School

FRESNO/CLOVIS – The Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School recently
greeted legendary college basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, who met
with students and toured the campus.
`I thought this would be a great opportunity for the students to meet
a great Armenian sports figure,’ said CKACS Principal Sophie
Mekhitarian, who had invited Tarkanian to visit the school. `It was
also a chance for him to check-out our new basketball courts.’
For 19 seasons (1973-1992), `Tark the Shark’ coached the UNLV Running
Rebels basketball squad, winning the NCAA National Championship in
1990. From 1995 to 2002, he led the Fresno State Bulldogs to six 20-
win seasons and two NCAA tournament appearances. Tarkanian ranks among
the all-time NCAA coaches in victories and winning-percentage.
The CKACS basketball courts were installed earlier this year with
funding from the Lincy Foundation.
