Azerbaijan and Turkey did not sign an agreement on visa regime lifting,
Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet
Davutoglu stated at the Dec.25 joint briefing.

The FMs said that signing of the agreement was not happen for technical
reasons, however the negotiations will progress, Hurriyet reports.

According to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, the signing was scheduled
however it failed due to bureaucratic issues. "Turkish side has
everything ready for it, but certain procedures should be implemented
in Azerbaijan. Afterwards, protocol on lifting of visa regime will
be signed."

Earlier, Turkish mass media reported about both states’ intension to
sign a document on visa restrictions in the course of Mammadyarov’s
two-day visit to Turkey.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also intends to meet Turkish President
Abdullah Gul, Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Parliament Speaker
Mehmet Ali Sahin.
