/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Turkey’s policy has always been situation-dependent,
according to Eduard Abrahamyan, the leader of National Neoconservative
Movement.

"After confrontation with the U.S. over Iraq, Ankara moved closer to
Tehran and labeled Israel as a terrorist organization. Nevertheless,
Washington did not yield to blackmail and approved intrusion of
Turkish troops into Northern Iraq. Then, Erdogan visited Israel and
signed an agreement on modernization of Turkish fighters and at the
same time slammed Iran’s nuclear program. Judging from the situation,
Ankara’s flirt with Tehran and Damascus can be described as a new
attempt to blackmail the West," he said.

Abrahamyan also reminded about Turkey’s Foreign Minister’s
recent statement on possible protraction of ratification of the
Armenian-Turkish protocols.

"Such scenario will cause displeasure of the international community.

Foreseeing negative reaction, Turkey initiates rapprochement with Iran
and Syria, what will allow a political haggling with the EU and U.S.

to make them soften position on the normalization of relations with
Armenia," he said.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The economic downturn of the Armenian economy will
continue in 2010, Artsvik Minasyan, member of the ARF faction told a
press conference in Yerevan. According to him, the reduction of private
transfers to Armenia will continue negatively affect the economy.

Another factor that impeding the economy of Armenia, is strengthening
of monopolictic companies. According to him, the growth of prices for
essential goods is conditioned by monopolies, which seek to aggregate
big capitals quickly. "It is clear that the government cannot get
rid of the requirements imposed by monopolies, " he stressed.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenia and Israel lack objective information about
each other, according to Alexander Tsinker, director of East European
States & CIS. Institute, member of the Knesset in 1999-2003.

"Armenia and Israel will still face a great number of difficulties on
some historical issues, specifically the Armenian Genocide," he said.

Dr. Tsinker said two geopolitical axes formed in the region. On the
one hand, it’s Russia, Armenia, Syria and Iran; on the other hand,
it’s U.S., Israel, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Jordan.

"Under the circumstances, Israel and Armenia are on the different
sides of the barricades. Any attempt at dialogue between Armenia
and Israel are perceived by Turkey and Iran as disloyalty," he said,

Ankara Uses Ethno-Political Factor In Caucasus

ANKARA USES ETHNO-POLITICAL FACTOR IN CAUCASUS

PanARMENIAN.Net
13.11.2009 15:51 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Turkey has serious experience in influencing
internal political processes of different states, and Armenia will
be no exception, Chair of National Neo-conservative movement Edward
Abrahamyan said. Caucasus, according to him, is a key region for
Ankara in terms of strengthening its influence through ethno-political
factor. "It should be born in mind that Armenia is an obstacle to
spreading Turkish influence in Caucasus, hence in case of border
opening, Turkey will naturally attempt to influence internal political
processes in Armenia," Neo-conservative leader added.

At that he noted that after establishment of Turkish-Bulgarian
relations, Turkey managed to gain levers of influence on the country’s
internal political situation. "Over the past 20 years, Ankara managed
to ‘breed’ in Bulgaria several political parties, public organizations
and movements which play key role in the country’s public-political
life. "Movement for Rights and Freedom" is one of such parties which
gained 15% of seats in Bulgarian parliament during recent elections.

By the way, the bill condemning Armenian Genocide is torpedoed by
Ministers and MPs of that party. Apart from Bulgaria, Turkey also
has its internal political levers in Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Kosovo, Moldova, Ukraine, Abkhazia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. In contrast
to the countries above, Armenia lacks the Turkish element, however,
considering the "Turks" of local production, their number is expected
to increase sharply after border opening.

Armenia’s Policy Towards Javahk – Based On Comity

ARMENIA’S POLICY TOWARDS JAVAHK – BASED ON COMITY

PanARMENIAN.Net
13.11.2009 16:45 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ A key issue demanding Armenian authorities’
rapid and effective response is Javahk problem. However, Armenia’s
policy in that regard remains on the level of comity. Such approach
may cause Armenians to quit their historical homeland, Head of
National Neo-conservative movement Edward Abrahamyan reported to
PanARMENIAN.Net. "Given that nature abhors a vacuum, Armenia may soon
have a Turkish-speaking frontier region in the south, with all the
national security threats deriving thereof. There is an opinion that
Armenia’s steps towards resolving the problems of Armenian-populated
region of Javahk can exacerbate Armenian-Georgian relations. But as
a matter of fact, it is Yerevan and Tbilisi’s ignoring attitude that
creates breeding ground for Armenian-Georgian conflicts," Abrahamyan
stressed.

"Georgian authorities believe that such anti-Armenian policy will
eliminate possible threats of losing the region, whereas such
policy has cause-effect relationship with Armenians’ discontent. As
regards Georgia’s policy to Armenia, it bears formal nature. That’s
why Georgian authorities do not pay due attention to the status of
Armenian language in Javahk, possibility of uniting Tsalka region with
Samtskhe-Javakheti and strengthening local self-government bodies. If
Armenian leadership had more far-sighted approach to Javahk issue,
we’d now have quite different position in the region. Turkey’s current
foreign policy would not be so crucial in terms of communication,"
Neo-conservative leader stressed.
