French President Nicolas Sarkozy has welcomed the joint statement made
by Turkey and Armenia, with Swiss participation, outlining further
steps in the normalization of bilateral relations,

"Normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey would constitute an
event of historic import that would contribute to regional stability,"
Sarkozy said in a statement, AP reports.
