INTERNATIONAL TRADITIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENTS HELD IN JERMUK

JERMUK, JULY 7, NOYAN TAPAN. Two International Chess Tournaments were
held between June 26 to July 5 in Jermuk. 41 chess players took part
in Karen Asrian’s commemorative tournament. Levon Babujian and Samvel
Ter-Sahakian (both from Armenia) gained 7 out of 9 possible points
each and shared the 1-2nd places.
The second International Tournament was Junior. It was divided into
3 age groups, where 137 chess players performed.
David Papikian (Armenia) won the tournament of chess players aged 16
and below. Karen Hovhannisian and Arsen Aghajanian (both from Armenia)
shared the 1-2nd places in the tournament of chess players aged 12
and below.
Nikolay Golikov (Russia) and Mikayel Mkrtchian (Armenia) shared the
1-2nd places in the competition of 10-year-old chess players.
