VIOLENCE AGAINST REPORTERS IS OUTSIDE OBSERVERS’ COMPETENCE

There has been no election in Armenia before, during which so many
cases of violence against reporters were registered as on May 31, at
the Yerevan Mayor election. Does this suit the European measurements
too? This question was addressed to the head of the mission of the
Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe
to observe the municipal elections in Yerevan, which assessed the
election as positive and corresponding the European measurements.
"It is outside our competence. But we have reached such information
since the beginning of the month and we will take it into account in
our final report", said Nigel Mermagen.
