In the 119th session of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers,
Azerbaijan was represented by Mamed Aliyev, Azeri Ambassador to
Spain. FM Elmar Mamediarov refused to attend the meeting because of
the Council’s refusal to acknowledge the outcomes of the constitutional
amendments referendum.
According to available information obtained from a source closely
related to diplomatic circles, Azerbaijan is quite likely to resign
Council membership.
