Number of refugees increased

According to a recent UN report, Armenia ranks among the countries
having the highest index of emigration. Great is the number of
Armenians who seek refugee’s status overseas, largely in developed
countries. Large-scale migration is registered in Azerbaijan, Somalia,
Iraq, Serbia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and Russia. The latter
tops the list with Iraq and Somalia.
In 2008 the number of refugees has increased by 383 000 in 51
developed countries. The number of refugees getting political asylum
has gone up by 20.5 thousand.
The USA is leading among the countries giving asylum to refugees with
the highest immigrant population, followed by Canada, France, Italy,
Great Britain, Sweden, Germany, Greece, Switzerland and Norway.
According to statics, there are more than 11 million refugees all over
the world.
