Armenian expert said.

`Despite the intention to join the European Union, it tries to fortify
its positions as a regional power,’ Director of Caucasus Institute
Alexander Iskandaryan told a news conference on Friday.

`Prime Minister Tayyip Ergogan’s recent demarche in Davos has worked
for both domestic and foreign policies. Turkeys is facing
elections. With anti-Israeli policy, the AK ruling party tries to gain
dividends,’ he said.

At the same time, Iskandaryan emphasized that Ankara and Tel Aviv
understand need each other.

`Tensions will ease after the March elections in Turkey,’ he said.
