U.S. Diplomat Believes Armenia, Azerbaijan Could Sign Framework Deal

U.S. DIPLOMAT BELIEVES ARMENIA, AZERBAIJAN COULD SIGN FRAMEWORK DEAL ON KARABAKH IN SUMMER

U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch believes Armenia and
Azerbaijan could sign a framework treaty on basic principles of the
settlement of the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh in summer 2009.

Speaking on Radio Liberty, Yovanovitch said she positively viewed the
recent meetings between the Armenian and Azeri presidents in Moscow
and Davos in this context.

The U.S. also welcomes dialogue between Armenia and Turkey and is
willing to facilitate further steps in this direction, she said.
