OLD NEW YEAR CELEBRATED AT THE GOVERNMENT OF ARMENIA

Today the Armenian Government traditionally celebrated the Old
New Year.
Congratulating the journalists accredited at the Government and heads
of media organizations on New Year, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan
noted that the Republic of Armenia is moving from the institute of
compulsion to the principle of self-organization, which means that if
the state refuses from the institute of compulsion, mass media start
functioning, since they shape public opinion and a value system,
thus influencing the behavior of people.
"This means that mass media acquire levers, because they can
determine the future of our society. If you are ready to assume that
responsible role, the question arises: do mass media have an institute
of responsibility? Who are mass media accountable to?"
The Prime Minister noted that mass media are accountable to their
sponsors, readers and what is the most important, the future of
the nation.
