French Ambassador to Armenia Serge Smessow said at a press conference
Friday that he regrets for the incidents that took place in front of
the French Embassy in Yerevan on 1 March, but he does not think they
can be defined as ‘tortures’. Ambassador Smessow said one must strictly
differentiate the idea ‘application of force against demonstrators’,
‘violence’ and ‘tortures and humiliating treatment’.
