PRICES OF NON-FOOD COMMODITIES GROW BY 0.5% IN ARMENIA IN JANUARY

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 4, NOYAN TAPAN. 0.5% inflation was registered in
the non-food commodity market of Armenia in January 2008 on December
2007, which was mainly conditioned by a rise in prices of fuel (6.2%)
(in connection with 8.9% rise in the price of liquid petroleum gas),
cosmetics (2.4%) and cultural goods (1%).
According to the RA National Statistical Service, prices of footwear,
furniture, kitchen utensils, stationery, clothes, and jewelry grew
by 0.1-0.6% in the indicated period. Prices of domestic appliances,
medicines, building materials fell by 0.3-1.7%. Prices of carpets,
horticultural items, and detergents remained at the level of the
previous month.
