LOS ANGELES-PUBLISHED AZERBAIJAN INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE CELEBRATES 15TH BIRTHDAY

Azerbaijan International magazine published in Los Angeles since 1993
celebrated 15th birthday on January 24, APA’s US bureau reports.

The event was organized by Azerbaijani Consulate General in Los
Angeles. Representatives of diplomatic offices, including Turkish
Consul General, representatives of Azerbaijani, Iranian and Georgian
communities, professors and students of California University and
others participated in the event.

Azerbaijani Consul General to Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov spoke about
the magazine’s role in the promotion and recognition of Azerbaijan
abroad and gave keepsakes to the founders of the magazine Betty
Blair and Firuz Khanly. The founders spoke about the history of the
magazine. According to them, the magazine was founded, as one-sided
reports on Nagorno Karabakh conflict spread in the US media.

Betty Blair mentioned that the 5th birthday of the magazine was
solemnly celebrated on Heydar Aliyev’s initiative in Azerbaijan
National Library named after Akhundov.

Congratulation letters of president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation
Mehriban Aliyeva, first Azerbaijani ambassador to the US, rector of
Diplomatic Academy Hafiz Pashayev, President Jimmy Carter’s National
Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski and world-famous Azerbaijani
scientist Lutfi Zadeh were read at the event.
