Armenia will participate for the third year in Eurovision Song
Contest. ARMTV already decided in November that the artist who
will represent the country will be Sirusho. Dina Mnatsakanyan told
eurovision.tv that the selection is currently been worked out as the
country has to deal first with two other events. Shirusho is writing
the lyrics for the four compositions herself. The young singer –
she was born in 1987 – released her first album when she was 12. She
has given concerts across Europe, in Canada, the United States and
in the Middle-East. Currently, the 19-year old pop star is studying
Diplomacy at the Yerevan State University.
Ms Mnatsakanyan told that ARMTV has two major events before the
national final of Eurovision. First of all the National Music Awards
on February 10th in which Sirusho will attend. On February 19th there
are the Presidential Elections which prohibit the broadcaster to hold
up a show of that kind. ARMTV’s Diana Mnatsakanyan also refuted once
again refuted again the Azeri story published few days ago on local
Azeri newspaper claiming a dispute over a song, considering it as
the Armenian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008.
