Yerevan /Mediamax/. Yerevan City Administration refuted today the
statements of a number of politicians, according to which the city
authorities make artificial obstacles for placement of outside
advertisement of the oppositional candidates for the position of
the President.

Commenting on the voiced accusations, the City Administration
noted that on January 15, the detailed order of placement of outside
pre-election advertisement was published in "Hayastani Hanrapetutyun"
newspaper.

It was also placed in the official website of the City Administration

The given document, in particular, reads that the advertiser should
necessarily present the sketch of the advertisement material,
approved by the Department of Architecture and City-Planning of the
City Administration.

"The Yerevan City Administration officially sates that as of January
21 of 2008, not a single candidate for the position of the Armenian
President, or his pre-election staff, except for the Republican
Party of Armenia, presented the corresponding sketches", the City
Administration noted.

As Mediamax was told in the City Administration today, "in accordance
with their functions and the legislation of Armenia, the Armenian city
authorities are ready to assist in securing equal conditions and free
realization of the pre-election campaign, concerning the placement
of advertisement materials in the streets of the capital city".

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
