Armenia concerned over Iran sanctions
Fri, 07 Dec 2007 20:40:54

Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian says UN sanctions on Iran could hurt
Armenia’s economic interests due to the two countries close ties.

In a Thursday interview with Russia Today, Oskanian noted the
economic ties between Tehran-Yerevan adding that the two countries
were cooperating to build a gas pipeline.

Ruling out the military option against Iran, he said that taking
preemptive measures against Iran could have catastrophic consequences
for everyone especially the United States.

He pointed to the large number of Armenians living in Iran without
suffering any discrimination and said Yerevan believed good relations
with Tehran could help stability and security in the country.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
