Turkish Vandalism in Belgium

On Sunday evening, by 1 o’clock2, about 400 Turks broken into an
Armenian cafe on Saint-Josse Street of Brussels.

Our reporter to Brussels Araks Safarian provides additional information
about it.

The demonstrators broke the windows and destroyed the cafe totally. It
lasted 20-30 minutes.

The clients got into a panic, but managed to hide in WC.

The director of the cafe mentioned that Turks had shouted, "It’s an
Armenian cafe, kill everybody".

Even the interference of the police couldn’t stop the clashes for
30 minutes. Nevertheless, no Turk was arrested. The police mentioned
that they had no right to do it.

"I am attacked but the police is not able to protect my rights",

It’s already a year that Mr. Petrosian has bought and reconstructed
the cafe. It started to work 2 months ago.

The incident is connected with the adoption of the Armenian Genocide
Resolution by the US.

At the beginning Turks expressed their discontent in front of the US
Embassy, then near the Municipality and after that broke into the cafe.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
