"In fact, the expenditures in hundreds of millions of dollars for
"building" a new railway in line with an existing one (Kars-Giumry)
is pointless and groundless," Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan
Oskanyan said answering to a question of "Hairenik" newspaper on
Kars-Akhalkalak railway.
He underscored one more that it cannot pose big economic damage
to Armenia similar to the known oil and gas pipelines. "However,
in political terms, it can create an unfavorable atmosphere in our
region," he said. In the words of the head of our foreign agency,
it is evident that the decision to construct Kars-Akhalkalak railway
is taken on political motives provocated by Azerbaijan and Turkey.
