5 MEMBERS OF ARMENIAN MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM OF WEIGHTLIFTING TO TAKE PART IN BEIJING OLYMPIC GAMES

CHIANG MAI, SEPTEMBER 28, NOYAN TAPAN. On September 27, the national
team of weightlifting of Armenia ended its performances in the World
Championship, which was held in Thailand. In the team competition the
national team of Armenia took the 12th place. Thus, by the result of
two 2006-2007 men’s world championships Armenia took the 12th place and
5 sportsmen gained the right to take part in the Beijing Olympic Games.
It should be mentioned that each of the teams included in the first
six gained right for 6 sportsmen, those who took the 7-13th places
– for 5 sportsmen each, 14-21st places – for 4 sportsmen each, and
21-27th places – for 3 sportsmen each.

ARMENIAN FENCING MASTERS TO TAKE PART IN WORLD RATING CHAMPIONSHIP
YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 28, NOYAN TAPAN. Two members of the Armenian
representative team left for Saint Petersburg on September 27 for the
purpose of taking part in the World Fencing Rating Championship to
be held on September 29. Gegham Hovsepian will take part in the epee
and Mikhayel Ghazarian in the foil tounament. Those, who will take
up to the 64th places, will provide themselves with a participation
pass for the "Beijing – 2008" olympic games.
