Armenia is not considering joining NATO, Armenian President Robert
Kocharyan said during a joint press-conference with Greek President
Karolos Papoulias today.
"We are inclined to enlarge our relations with NATO and are actively
working under IPAP but we are not considering membership in that
alliance," Kocharyan said. He noted that NATO membership will generate
additional quite serious problems for Armenia. "We believe that the
existing security and defense format is optimal for our interests,"
Kocharyan said.
