Recently, speaking about possible progress in the Nagorno Karabakh
settlement process, there has been repeated reference to the return of
territories surrounding Nagorno Karabakh. According to certain news
sources, US Co-chair of the Minsk Group, Mattew Bryza, has also made a
similar statement just recently.

In response to this statement Vladimir Karapetian, Foreign Ministry
Acting Spokesperson responded: `Regardless of who says what, we can
only repeat what we have frequently explained: unless the issue of the
status of Nagorno Karabakh is clarified, and the right of
self-determination is fully assured, and unless an irrevocable
geographic link between Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia is secured, we
are not ready to talk about tertiary issues."
