Armenian president names new chief of general staff

Yerevan 12 May: Armenian President Robert Kocharyan has appointed
Lt-Gen Seyran Oganyan chief of General Staff of the Armenian armed
forces and first deputy defence minister. A five-year contract has also
been signed with him, the presidential press service has told Mediamax.

Before his appointment to this post, Seyran Oganyan was defence
minister and commander-in-chief of the Karabakh defence army.
