DEFENSE MINISTER’S MEMBERSHIP WILL NOT PROMOTE A SPLIT IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
Yerevan, ArmInfo. The membership of Defense Minister Serge Sarkisian
and his election the head of the Party Council will nor split the
Republican Party of Armenia into two, said Prime Minister Andranik
Margarian. He noted that the Code of the party distinctly determines
the power and authority of each office and throughout the 16-year
long history of the party never has any conflict occurred. All the
ideological controversies were settled through debates. Mr. Margarian
denied the opinion that membership of a minister in a party runs
contrary to the Constitution. He said that the office of a minister
is a political one itself, therefore nothing can prevent a minister
from taking part in party activity.
