PM States Some Development in Issue of Armenia-Turkey Relations

RA PRIME MINISTER STATES SOME DEVELOPMENT IN ISSUE OF ARMENIA-TURKEY
RELATIONS
YEREVAN, MAY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. “Till the end of the year we must attemp
to make as much steps as possible in the direction of opening the
borders of Armenia with Turkey, establishing diplomatic relations,”
Andranik Margarian, the RA Prime Minister stated at the May 12
press-conference. According to him, there is some development in that
issue, particularly, it is Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip
Erdogan’s letter to RA President Robert Kocharian and his reply to
that letter. In the Prime Minister’s opinion, discussions at different
levels are likely to take place till autumn: “That is, the ice is
broken.” The Prime Minister considers prematurely talks about
nominating his candidature for the 2008 president’s elections, as,
according to him, there are NA election before it, and the position of
the Republican Party of Armenia in that issue will depend on its
result.
