TURKEY INTERESTED IN ESTABLISHMENT OF RAILWAY COMMUNICATION WIT GEORGIA AND AZERBAIJAN

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Turkey is interested in the establishment of
railway communication with Georgia and Azerbaijan, Turkish President
Ahmed Necep Sezer stated in Tbilisi. “We continue the works for the
realization of the Kars-Akhalkalaki railway project.
We wish this main to supplement the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil
pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum gas pipeline,” Mr. Sezer said
at a briefing after the meeting with Georgian President Mikhail
Saakashvili. When touching upon the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil
pipeline Mr. Sezer said the ceremony of the first tanker loading
will take place in Ceyhan this summer. He also invited Saakashvili
to participate in the ceremony, reported ITAR-TASS.
To note, Armenia rates the construction of the Baku
-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars as economically inexpedient, since the
project is a counterbalance to the existing Kars-Gyumri-Tblisi-Baku
railway.

U.S. CONGRESSMEN CALL TO PRESERVE PARITY IN MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO YEREVAN AND BAKU

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Congressmen Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and George
Radanovich (R-CA) called on their U.S. House colleagues today
to join them in cosigning a letter calling on the leadership of
the House Foreign Operations Subcommittee to support pro-Armenian
provisions in the fiscal year 2007 foreign aid bill, reported the
Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). The letter notes that
members of Congress are “deeply troubled” that the Administration’s
request for military aid for Azerbaijan is considerably higher then
the request for Armenia. By signing the letter, legislators will add
their voice to the effort to ensure that the agreement struck in 2001
between the White House and Congress to keep aid levels to these two
countries equal is fully respected. In addition, the letter calls
for a hard earmark of at least $75 million for Armenia, a one-year
$5 million allocation for Nagorno Karabakh, and the preservation of
Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act.

“Azerbaijan must understand that while the negotiations for the
settlement of the Karabakh conflict are prolonging, the de facto
independent status of Karabakh is gradually being recognized by the
international community”, the head of the RA NA Standing Committee
on Foreign Relations Armen Roustamyan told “A1+”.
“Time does its work. Time cannot harm this one ore that, but we are
in a blockade and still we manage to strengthen our economy. We must
enhance our inner resources and the country itself, so that Azerbaijan
understands that they cannot solve the problem by the military way”,
Mr. Roustamyan says.

DEAD BIRDS FRIGHTENED THE RESIDENTS OF GYUMRI

A dead dove and a dead crow have been found in Gyumri.
In both cases the birds were found by the children.
The resident of the city applied to the Shirak region Veterinary
State Inspection immediately.
The workers of the Inspection found only the dead dove in the place
of incidence as the crow had been lost.
The investigations showed that the bird did not carry the bird flu
virus, and the concern was in vain.
According to the head of the Shirak region Veterinary State Inspection
representative Gagik Sargsyan, they get about 6-7 suchlike alarms
from the people a day, but up to now the bird flu virus has never
been found.
In this connection the Inspection is well prepared.
They have special tests with the help of which they can easily find
the virus.

cemetery, according to the eyewitnesses, in early March of the current
year the Azeri soldiers turned the area into a military shooting-range.
The photos spread by the RA Foreign Ministry show that the Old Julfa
cemetery no more exists, deserving the fate of the Plomboz Church,
the St. Savior’s Church and the Church “Red”.

STRAY DOGS DISTURB THE RESIDENTS OF SISIAN.

By the order of the Mayor of town Sisian, LTD “Cleaning” of Sisian,
Hunters’ Union and Local Police Department with the help of the
veterinary services of the town started to clean the town of stray
dogs.
With this aim the municipality together with the director of the
LTD ” Cleaning” of Sisian worked out a special program: within the
framework of the program a sum has been allotted to the Hunters’
Union to carry out the work. But by words of Hamlet Babayan, lead
specialist of the municipality who is responsible for the work,
in spite of the initial preparation of the Union, the heads of the
Union refused to take participation in the project and raised the
question of the payment for the work carried out previously.
The hunters have been already killing about 3-5 dogs a day for 13
days, but the number of stray dogs remains the same in the town. The
residents of the town complain about it and demand the final solution
of this problem.

TURKS WILL ALWAYS REMAIN TURKS

“Today, when on the one hand massacre organizing Turkey tries to
distort the history and defame our struggle, on the other hand the
throng called Azeri army destructs Armenian cross stones and when
Azeri criminal cruelly kills a sleeping person just because the latter
is Armenian, the glorification of our heroes maintains new value and
quality,” assures the president of Ajapnyak Committee “Iron Ladle”
of ARF Artak Nazaretyan.
Today in Ajapnyak community a ceremony was held next to the monument
to Soghomon Tehleryan dedicated to the murder of Taleat pasha in
Germany 85 years ago. NA Deputy Armen Rustamyan says: “85 years ago
the Armenian people recorded one of the most eloquent facts of just
retribution in its history.” Tehleryan acted for the sake of a just
aim and by just means.
One of the evidences of this is that Tehleryan was set free from the
Court hall.
Head of Ajapnyak community Artsrun Khachatryan says: “Today the
Turks try to justify criminal Taleat in Europe; and in different
countries, even in the Euro Council they mention that nowadays Turkey
is different, but the latter proves the opposite by that action.”

INVALIDS TEACH JOURNALISTS HOW TO BE CORRECT

>From April 2 “Huysi kamurj” public organization announced a contest
of journalistic materials on problems of the disabled people with
the topic “Equal Opportunities”. As the head of the organization
Susanna Tadevosyan mentioned the aim of the contest is to “encourage
journalists touch upon problems of the invalid more thoroughly.” Today
during the conference journalists were taught how to elucidate problems
of the invalid.
“There are cases when correspondents do not realize the problems of
the invalid and present the material wrongly. Thus we are isolated
from the society,” noticed Nshan during the seminar. The latter is
a seminar leader at “Huysi Kamurj” and being a 2nd category invalid
and having problems with his spine does not matter for him.
The representative of Russian “Perspective” organization Denis Rooz
was also present at the seminar. The latter has come to Armenia to get
acquainted with the inclusive education (i.e. when disabled children
study with the others) in Armenia and take our experience in the field
to Russia. “I’ve been to 2 schools with inclusive education and I see
that children do not differentiate between normal and invalid pupils,”
he mentioned.
To note, there are 6 schools with inclusive education in Armenia.

SAY NO TO TURKISH PRODUCTS OF INFERIOR QUALITY

One of the sad phenomena of our times is the fact that Armenian
“merchants” import Turkish goods to Armenia securing circulation
of more than 10s millions. One of the essential conditions is that
while buying any product of Turkish origin (sweets, chewing-gums,
washing powders, etc.) one cannot be sure it won’t harm his/her health.
On the other hand: “After the examination of 103 samples of 45
Turkish products it was found out that they correspond to standards
of technical safety, that is to say they are not dangerous to human
life,” announced the deputy of the head of Quality Inspectorate George
Gyozalyan. As a result of the examination it was found out that the
above mentioned standard is the only one that the examined goods
corresponded to. Chocolate bars “Safari”, “Derby”, “Nuss”, chewing
gums “Golfresh” , “Pencil-Gum” and “Bubble Gum”, biscuits “Twin”,
“Look”, “Gold”, washing means “Bingo”, “Tara” did not correspond to
the fixed standards.
As G. Gyozalyan assured the realization of the above mentioned goods
has been prohibited and the importing companies have been ordered to
take the goods back from the consumers.
To remind, “Defence of Consumers’ Rights” Public Organization has
worked out a corresponding order and it is being discussed at the
moment.
To note, the fine has been fixed not for the importers but for the
sellers. As G. Gyozalyan stated this is not a raid against Turkish
goods, yet the greatest number of complaints refers Turkish products.
To note, this year the Government has let 80 million drams to put
goods under control.

PERSIAN PAINTS NOT EXAMINED

The head of Quality Inspectorate George Gyozalyan has been informed
that children have been poisoned from Iranian paints. Yet, the
inspectorate hasn’t started the examination of those paints as “there
are different opinions; some say it is caused by gouache, others say
… To tell the truth at the moment Iranian paints are under strict
control,” answered G. Gyozalyan to Panorama.am correspondent.
We don’t think it is so difficult for the inspectorate to find out the
real reason of the poisoning. To note, this year the Government has
let 80 million drams to set control over products main part of which
is foodstuffs. It is also worth reminding that the above mentioned
Persian paints are not included into the list of products liable to
compulsory certification.
