Ukraine says ready to negotiate neutrality

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. Ukraine is ready to engage in negotiations with Russia over a neutral status but is calling for security guarantees for doing so, UNIAN Information Agency reported citing a senior official at the Ukrainian presidency.

“Ukraine always leaves room for negotiations, including now, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion,” Mikhail Podolyaka, the advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian presidency said in a statement. “This war must be stopped. These military actions must be stopped,” he said.

Armenia’s economic activity index grows 15.4% in January 2022

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. The economic activity index of Armenia has increased by 15.4% in January 2022 compared to January 2021. However, the figure of January of this year has declined by 45% compared to December 2021, the Statistical Committee reports.

The industrial production volume increased by 16.6% in January 2022 compared to January 2021, whereas compared to December 2021, it declined by 37.8%.

The construction volume increased by 3%, whereas compared to December, it declined by 86.5%. The increase in trade turnover in January 2022 comprised 11.5%, whereas compared to December 2021, it declined by 41.9%. The volume of services increased by 21.2% in January 2022 compared to January 2021. The decline compared to December 2021 comprised 16.2%.

The consumer price index increased by 7.1% compared to January 2021 and by 1.6% compared to December 2021. The index of industrial production prices increased by 9% compared to January 2021 and by 0.9% compared to December 2021. The electricity production volume increased by 19.2%.

60.4% increase was registered in external trade turnover volumes in January 2022 compared to the same month of 2021. However, compared to December 2021, this figure declined by 28.7%. The export in January 2022 increased by 53.2%, and the import by 65%.

On February 25, President of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan received Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan and Pastor of the Martakert region Father Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the Presidential Office reported.

A wide range of issues related to the state-church relations, the external and internal challenges facing Artsakh, and the intra-Armenian unity were discussed during the meeting.

Both sides underscored the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in state-building process and preservation of the Armenian national identity, the need to combine the efforts of the state and the church to counter the existing challenges and solve national problems.

During the meeting, President Harutyunyan handed over the “Mesrop Mashtots” Order to Father Hovhannes Hovhannisyan for substantial contribution to the preservation of spiritual values and 30-year-long dedicated service.

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan met today with Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia Bolat Imanbayev, the Office of the Secretary of the Security Council said.

In his remarks during the meeting, the Ambassador highly appreciated the development dynamics of the trade-economic relations between Armenia and Kazakhstan, as well as the bilateral cultural and political cooperation. In this context Armen Grigoryan highlighted the uninterrupted implementation of the cooperation agenda within the CSTO and the EAEU.

The sides also discussed other economic and political issues of bilateral interest and reaffirmed the bilateral readiness to further develop the relations.

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. The UEFA Men’s Champions League is being relocated from Russia’s Saint Petersburg to Stade de France in Saint-Denis, UEFA said in a statement.

“The UEFA Executive Committee today held an extraordinary meeting following the grave escalation of the security situation in Europe.

The UEFA Executive Committee decided to relocate the final of the 2021/22 UEFA Men’s Champions League from Saint Petersburg to Stade de France in Saint-Denis. The game will be played as initially scheduled on Saturday 28 May at 21:00 CET.

UEFA wishes to express its thanks and appreciation to French Republic President Emmanuel Macron for his personal support and commitment to have European club football’s most prestigious game moved to France at a time of unparalleled crisis. Together with the French government, UEFA will fully support multi-stakeholder efforts to ensure the provision of rescue for football players and their families in Ukraine who face dire human suffering, destruction and displacement.

At today’s meeting, the UEFA Executive Committee also decided that Russian and Ukrainian clubs and national teams competing in UEFA competitions will be required to play their home matches at neutral venues until further notice.

The UEFA Executive Committee further determined to remain on standby to convene further extraordinary meetings, on a regular ongoing basis where required, to reassess the legal and factual situation as it evolves and adopt further decisions as necessary,” UEFA said in a statement.

“I’d like to once again address the President of the Russian Federation,” Zelensky said in a video address published on social media. “Military operations are taking place all over Ukraine. Let’s sit around a negotiations table in order to stop the bloodshed,” he said.

COVID Omicron variant detected in Artsakh

The ministry urged the citizens in case of showing any symptoms of COVID-19 to apply for medical care to avoid further complications of the disease.

The ministry once again called on the citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to prevent the spread of the virus.
