PanARMENIAN.Net – The Azerbaijani military has violated the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) again, this time near the settlement of Seysulan, the NKR InfoCenter reports․

“As a result of the negotiations by the Russian peacekeeping troops in Artsakh, the Azerbaijani troops have recently agreed to return to their starting positions,” the statement reads.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said Azerbaijan violated the contact line near Hatsavan (Yarimja).

“The command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, in cooperation with representatives of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh, is taking measures to resolve the incident,” the Russian side said.

Azerbaijan has broken into Nagorno-Karabakh, and the incursion has left three Armenian soldiers dead and at least 14 others injured. On March 24, Azerbaijan stormed into the zone of the responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers stationed in the area and is refusing to completely withdraw its forces from strategic heights.

Armenia MP: No guarantee Azerbaijan will withdraw from Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net – Opposition lawmaker from Armenia’s “I Have Honor” bloc Tigran Abrahamyan believes that there is no guarantee that the Azerbaijani military will honor its commitment to withdraw from an area in Nagorno-Karabakh that they burst into days earlier.

The Azerbaijani military has violated the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) again, this time near the settlement of Seysulan, the NKR InfoCenter reported earlier․ According to Karabakh authoritie, as a result of the negotiations by the Russian peacekeeping troops in Artsakh, the Azerbaijani troops “have agreed to return to their starting positions”.

Abrahamyan said that although official sources claim that there’s an agreement to have the Azerbaijanis pull back forces to their original positions, there is no guarantee that they will fulfill the agreement. According to him, the Azeris might even attempt a fresh attack.

“The post-war status has already created a rather difficult situation for Artsakh and Armenia, but Azerbaijan is trying to build on its advantage, obtain complete control over the “veins” of Artsakh’s vital support, and to achieve the complete eviction of Armenians from Artsakh,” the MP said in a Facebook post.

“The Azerbaijani scenario assumes that the issue of gaining full control of Artsakh will be resolved faster this way. Of course, the main supporter of this process is the Armenian government, which is giving a green light to Azerbaijan.”

Nicholas Kristof concerned about Azerbaijani aggression toward Artsakh villages

Armenia –

American journalist and political commentator Nicholas Kristof has expressed concern over Azerbaijani aggression against Armenian villages in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

“Lots of concern about Azerbaijani aggression toward Armenian villages, including the “ethnic cleansing” of the area. The necessary focus on Ukraine shouldn’t allow other countries to get away with such behavior,” he said in a tweet on Thursday, sharing a statement of Baroness Caroline Cox.

“I receive almost daily reports of Azerbaijani military offensives against Armenian villages. By megaphones and loudspeakers, villagers are ordered to leave their homes. Women and children are evacuated, including recently from Karmir Shuka and Khnushinak in Martuni and Khramort in Askeran, where Azerbaijani forces continue to accumulate military equipment and manpower,” Cox said.

Armenian MP: Azerbaijan will look for new targets on the way to achieve its goal

The Azerbaijani military aggression toward the village of Parukh and the Karaglukh heights was aimed at stepping up pressure on the Armenian-held part of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition With Honor faction said on Saturday.

“The status quo of the post-war period has already created quite a difficult situation for Artsakh and Armenia, but Azerbaijan is attempting to build on its advantage to ensure final control over the ‘veins’ of Artsakh’s vital security and to achieve a complete exodus of Armenians from Artsakh,” he wrote on Faacebook.

In Abrahamyan’s words, Azerbaijan thus seeks to take full control of Artsakh swiftly.

“Naturally, the main supporters of this process are the Armenian authorities, who give a green light to Azerbaijan with their statements,” the lawmaker stated.

He referred to the advancement of the Azerbaijani troops in the Martakert region a few days ago, adding it “is a part of this chain.”

“Although the official statements suggest that there is an agreement on the withdrawal of Azerbaijanis to their initial positions, there is no guarantee that they will comply with the agreement or will not advance towards another area.

“Obviously, on the way to achieve its goal, Azerbaijan will look for new targets and vulnerable areas, which must be countered immediately,” Abrahamyan said.

Expert: Armenians who believe in enemy propaganda will be ‘butchered’ first

Armenian expert on Iran Vardan Voskanyan reacted to the Azerbaijani claims that Artsakh allegedly impedes the Armenian-Azerbaijani “reconciliation”.

“The propaganda machine of the Baku regime and various other slyboots, targeting Armenian society, are trying to promote the enemy propaganda that Artsakh allegedly impedes the “reconciliation” and “friendship” between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” he wrote on Telegram on Saturday.

“As someone who knows the artificial entity known as Azerbaijan like the back of his hand, I want to assure you that all Armenians who believe in the enemy propaganda and are willing to act within its framework will be the first to be butchered by the bashi-bazouks of the Baku dictator, God forbid, if they succeed.

“Do you know why? Because these people, renouncing Artsakh – a part of our homeland and an extremely important security component – and falling for the enemy’s empty propaganda, will welcome it with open arms rather than show resistance,” the expert said.

Nikol Pashinyan faced a protest during his visit to Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri on Saturday.

The protesters were holding a red and white barrier tape reading “I don’t agree!” along a street in the city.

“I don’t agree with the situation in the country, with the fact that we can’t show ourselves as a decent citizen, I don’t agree with this prolonged silence,” said one protester.

“I don’t agree with the current authorities,” another added.

Vazgen Manukyan: Armenian people must stand up and take the lead in making decisions

Panorama
Armenia –

Former Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Manukyan stresses Artsakh is ready to fight and Armenia must not give up either.

“In a statement passed by the parliament, our compatriots in Artsakh have confirmed that they are not giving up. Is Armenia giving up? No, the calls to surrender come only from the current authorities, who are leading the state to destruction,” Manukyan said in a statement on Friday.

History has shown that by following the calls to abandon national ideas and goals for the sake of survival, the country not only failed to survive, but also suffered new losses, he said.

Manukyan underscores that developed and strong countries have achieved prosperity through persistent struggle without indulging in illusions. He calls on the Armenian people to take the lead in making decisions to ensure the country’s security.

“The Armenian people must stand up and take the lead in making decisions about the country’s future to ensure the security of the state and a fair, free and prosperous life for the people.

“We must rely on our own power and build a fair and strong country, which everyone will reckon with. Many people in the world have taken this path and we will have real allies and friends along the way. The first step on this path is to stand by Artsakh, its rights and demands,” Manukyan said.

Addressing lawmakers earlier on April 13, Nikol Pashinyan said that the international community is pressing Armenia to “lower the bar on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh’s status” and recognize Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

Political analyst: Current regime continues to do everything for Armenia to suffer another defeat

Panorama
Armenia –

Political analyst Stepan Danielyan accused the current Armenian authorities of taking steps that would lead the country to another defeat after the one it suffered in the 2020 war.

“The Artsakh problem is more than just an Armenian-Azerbaijani issue. If we consider it at the Armenian-Azerbaijani plane, it has no solution as it won’t be allowed either. The developments in Ukraine go to prove it,” he wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

“In 2020, we were defeated even before the war started; we failed in diplomacy, or because of its absence, or rather, the current prime minister did everything possible and impossible so that the war started and we were left alone against the great coalition formed against us. There is good reason to believe that it was done on purpose.

“The search for a way out of the current situation will take place amid the transformation of the world order. The current regime continues to do everything for us to suffer a defeat again,” Danielyan said.
