Artsakh Security Council: There is organized campaign against Vitali Balasanyan

Armenia – Aug 26 2022

An organized campaign is held against Vitali Balasanyan in order to try to discredit the good name of the figure who has an indispensable contribution to the defense and strengthening of the Artsakhi statehood, the Security Council of Artsakh stated in regard with the photo which is publicized in the social networks and in which the Secretary of the Security Council of Karabakh Vitaly Balasanyan is allegedly shaking hands with an Azerbaijani official.

The statement reads in part:

"In recent days, some social networks, as well as resources carrying out information activities, "spin" one of the photos of the Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan, as well as publish false information that, allegedly, "Vitaly Balasanyan holds a handshake Berdzor."

Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Artsakh by his profession constantly visits different settlements of the republic, deals with security issues and performs official functions.

This photo was taken under unknown circumstances when Vitaly Balasanyan was on a regular working visit to one of the Russian peacekeeping forces bases on the section of Stepanakert-Artsakh-Goris interstate highway close to Shushi city where he was engaged, in particular, in the security issues connected with the launch of the new route connecting Artsakh and Armenia.

Analyzing the "comments" to the photo spread on the Internet, we came to the conclusion that an organized campaign is held against Vitaly Balasanyan in order to try to discredit the good name of the figure, who has an indispensable contribution in the defense and strengthening of the statehood of Artsakh.

In this connection, we responsibly declare that the Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan has never engaged in activities contradicting the interests of the Armenian people during his entire biography. Since Balasanyan took office as the Secretary of the Security Council on December 5, 2020, he has devoted himself to the mission of restoring Karabakh's security positions, the results of which we can all feel in our daily lives.

We urge everyone to stop dishonest attempts to produce and spread irresponsible rumors, and we urge our compatriots not to believe slander.

At the same time, we assure that the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh are doing everything possible to ensure a proper security environment in the Republic.

Like the -57s, in the little game of eliminating the top seeds, the -81kg category was not left out. It was Gor Karapetyan (ARM) who did best, qualifying brilliantly for the final. At the top of the draw, Alisher Samanov was not expected at such a party, but it was he who finally qualified to meet Karapetyan for the awarding of the world title.

There was a feeling in the venue that the final would not go to full time but with just one minute left on the clock, there was a waza-ari apiece, both attacking non-stop. The fact is though that it did go to the final gong and we were invited to enjoy the ballet of these two cats for a little longer. They attacked and defended simultaneously in an incredible battle. It was eventually Gor Karapetyan who scored again to win and to add one more country to the list of nations winning gold medals.

Panagiotis Kyvelidis (GRE) kept the fire going throughout the day. No doubt he lacked a little something to stop him reaching the final. He nevertheless qualified to face Dusan Grahovac (SRB) for the bronze medal. It was a difficult match for Kyvelidis as Grahovac had the full support of the public and it definitely played a role. Under the hurrahs, Grahovac pinned his opponent for ippon and for bronze.

Thomas Puchly (FRA) did not qualify for the final like his teammates from earlier in the competition, but he was nevertheless present for a match for bronze against Igor Tsurkan (UKR). The latter quickly raised his hands in celebration after he obtained the submission with a juji-gatame but the ippon was cancelled since it came from a direct combination of tomoe-nage and juji-gatame, which is not allowed; there must be a separation between the two techniques.
Regardless of the review and change of score, the competitors continued with the same high pace but Tsurkan made a big mistake which Puchly used to pin him down for waza-ari. Ippon would have been nice for the French competitor because that was Tsurkan's last mistake. He then went on to score a first waza-ari, followed by a second that came just after a ‘mate’ call but he finally concluded with a second waza-ari to assign the match. What a superb contest! The bronze went to Igor Tsurkan for Ukraine.
Medals, cheques and mascots were presented by Mr Milanko MUČIBABIĆ, President of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Mr Sylvain RIGOLLET, Attaché for Cooperation of the Embassy of France in Bosnia & Herzegovina

STEPANAKERT, AUGUST 25, ARMENPRESS. The evacuation of monuments from Berdzor, Aghavno and Nerkin Sus communities has been completed, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Artsakh Lernik Hovhannisyan told Armenpress, stating that around 46 monuments of monumental art have been evacuated from these three settlements. He also informed that the book fund of the Berdzor town library has also been transported to a designated place.

“Cross-stones, monuments, memorial stones dedicated to national heroes, the Armenian Genocide and various memorable events have been evacuated”, the deputy minister said, adding that if these monuments have not been evacuated, they would have been vandalized by Azerbaijanis.

“Now we are discussing several options for the installation of these monuments. The Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Artsakh State University and individuals have presented respective proposals. In particular, the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church has proposed to create a respective park in the territory of the St. Mary Mother Cathedral of Stepanakert where the evacuated cross-stones and monuments will be installed. The sponsor of the Park of Heroes in Nerkin Sus expressed a wish to restore it either in Stepanakert or Martakert”, the deputy minister said, stating that all these options will be discussed very soon and the issue will be solved.

Among the evacuated monuments, there is a cross-stone dating back to the 11th-12th centuries. It was located in the Holy Martyr’s Church of Aghavno. Deputy Minister Hovhannisyan informed that the cross-stone will be given to the State Historical and Geological Museum of Artsakh.
