YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. Member of the German Bundestag Till Mansmann, who is also the President of the German-Armenian Forum, highlights the good relations between Armenia and Germany.

In an interview to ARMENPRESS, the Bundestag MP said “Armenia is in a difficult situation as it suffers from multiple stress factors in the light of the current geopolitical developments”.

“Germany is supporting Armenia as it promotes common values”, the MP said.

When asked to comment on how he assesses the current state of the relations between Armenia and Germany, Till Mansmann said: “Germany’s cultural relations and education policy in Armenia aim to promote German as a foreign language at both school and university level. The German Academic Exchange Service and the Federal Office of Administration – Central Agency for Schools Abroad have their own German staff in Armenia. A Goethe-Zentrum opened in Yerevan in 2017, with the Language Training Centre based in the same building. There are many cooperation arrangements between German and Armenian higher education institutions. Additionally, we have the TUMO Centre in Berlin which aims to educate in the broad field of digitalization and software for foreigners and citizens completely free of charge. The political foundations Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e. V., Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and Heinrich Böll Foundation, as well as the German Adult Education Association (DVV) and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation, have offices in Yerevan staffed by local employees”.

Asked how he sees the role of the German-Armenian Forum in strengthening the relations between the two countries, Till Mansmann said “the current path in the mutual relationship is already a notably positive one”. “I plan to keep engaged with my commitment for the German-Armenia friendship”, he noted.

YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. Sunrise Stepanakert multimedia art festival will launch in Artsakh on June 24.

The festival, which is being held for already the second time, includes photo, digital art exhibition, musical performances, film screenings and creative master classes.

The festival was co-founded by Diaspora-Armenian girls, who came to Armenia within the frames of the IGorts program of the Office of High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs and stayed here.

In an interview to ARMENPRESS, co-founder of the festival Shushan Keshisian said that there was a big desire to do something for Artsakh. Initially, a charity event was organized in Yerevan, and the funds raised were directed to assisting the people displaced from Artsakh.

“The charity event was in the form of an exhibition – photos, graphic design, illustration. We started working with Lilit Hakobyan on the sidelines of this initiative. After successfully holding the event, we thought to hold it in Artsakh. And this idea united us and we started working. We visited Artsakh, discussed and understood that it should not merely be an exhibition, but a festival that will involve a concert program, a film-watching, master classes and so on”, she said.

This year the program of the festival, as well as the team have expanded. Co-founder Lilit Hakobyan said that last year the festival was attended by around 800 people, but this year 1200 visits are expected. Artists from both Artsakh, Armenia and the Diaspora will participate in the festival. The works of foreign artists will also be displayed at the exhibition.

“By uniting Armenians of Artsakh, Armenia and the Diaspora, we want to emphasize that the dawn begins after every sunset. The message is that life continues, we should be reborn and do that through art. For us it’s important that Artsakh feels itself a part of the international platform. It is not isolated, but a part of the whole. We are happy to have participants from abroad, whose works will also be displayed”, Lilit Hakobyan said.

The festival will last until July 3.

Free transportation from Yerevan to Stepanakert will be available.

The organizers plan to hold the festival annually.

YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan met on June 8 with heads of around two dozen companies with foreign investments in Armenia, discussing issues relating to the investment climate in the country, the deputy PM’s Office said.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, Vice Governor of the Central Bank Hovhannes Khachatryan, Director of Enterprise Armenia Levon Ohannesyan, etc.

The Deputy PM listened to the issues of concern of foreign investors, the existing problems and discussed with the representatives of the public sector the opportunities of taking respective measures to solve the problems.

YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan together with his wife Anna Hakobyan, President Vahagn Khachaturyan, as well as a number of high-ranking officials visited the Public Television Company of Armenia, the PM’s Office said.

The Prime Minister and the President presented awards to a group of devotees of the Public Television on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Public Television.

In particular, Nikol Pashinyan awarded the Commemorative Medal of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to Nara Shlepchyan, the first host of the Armenian Television, People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR, member of the Board of the Public Television and Radio Company of Armenia, and Elmira Arsenyan, the Producer Director of the TV company. The latter’s award was given to her colleague Artavazd Yeghoyan, as Mrs. Arsenyan is abroad.

Alvard Lazaryan, Senior Digital Archivist of the Digital Archive of the Public Television, Arsen Nazaryan, Head of the Editing Department, Smbat Sargsyan, Editor of the Production Process Support Department of the News Service, and Anichka Hunanyan, Head of the Television Fund Rehabilitation Laboratory received Letter of Gratitude from the Prime Minister.

After the awarding ceremony, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated everyone on the 65th anniversary of the Public TV. “In general, I think that age itself suggests that, at least, many of those present have been accompanied by Public Television throughout their lives. This is why we have a special attitude and special feelings towards the Public Television, because at every stage of our lives we remember ourselves in the role of a viewer of the Public Television.

Today, I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to pay our respects to the staff of Public Television who have played the most important role over the years. And I must hope that the Public Television will continue to appear with prominent, significant figures in the field of television, in the field of journalism, in the field of public discussions in the Republic of Armenia. These figures should also be shaped in the Public Television; they must become important mouthpieces for talking to our society, for dialogue. And this is the role of Public Television in general.”

In conclusion, the Prime Minister also congratulated the Armenian national football team on its victory in Yerevan and expressed hope that the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Public Television will be stronger marked by the successful game of the Armenian national team.

Afterwards, the Prime Minister and his wife watched the Scotland-Armenia match of the group stage of the UEFA Nations League from the big screen in the backyard of the TV company, which was broadcast on the Public TV.
