YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS. State Minister of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan received American-Armenian philanthropist, President of the Westbrook City Council Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte, the Office of the State Minister said.

Artak Beglaryan highlighted the activity of the Anna Astvatsaturian Foundation in Artsakh, thanks to which numerous humanitarian problems caused by war have been solved.

“Your patriotic activity is reflected first of all with the support provided to newborn babies and their mothers in Artsakh through the Ser Artsakh charity program, as the new-born babies are the main guarantee of the continuation of life and the belief towards future. I am sure that the project will positively affect the further development course of Artsakh”, the State Minister said.

Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte in her turn thanked for the warm welcome and presented the activity directions and sources of her Foundation, stating that the funds are collected mainly through public fundraisings. She assured that she will continue contributing to improving the life quality of the people of Artsakh.

A number of issues relating to the implementation of other possible projects in educational, healthcare and social sectors were also discussed.

“Applications should be submitted online. The deadline is July 24, 2022, 23:59 Mexico time (14:59 Armenia time).

No explosives found so far as authorities continue search following bomb threat in Yerevan metro

YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS. Authorities have completed searching three stations of the Yerevan metro after receiving a bomb threat and no explosives were found, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement.

K9 units and bomb squads have so far searched the Barekamutyun, Marshal Baghramyan, and Republic Square stations.

Search operations are ongoing in the remaining stations.

Rescue Service Director Colonel Armen Gasparyan and his deputy Colonel Tigran Petrosyan are personally supervising the operations.

Pyunik FC manager apologizes for striking child pitch invader after Dudelange match

YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS. The General Manager of Yerevan’s Pyunik FC Kim Arakelyan has issued a public apology for striking a child who ran into the pitch following the club’s UEFA Champions League 1st leg of second qualifying round match against F91 Dudelange.

“I’d like to apologize for the incident that took place after the match against Dudelange. My partners who organize international matches will very well understand that these matches imply a great sense of responsibility and any violation could lead to serious consequences for the club, up to disqualification of the entire team and ban from participation in European championships.

Nevertheless, I very well realize and I bear the entire responsibility for the incident. Being devoted to Pyunik FC and our country, I couldn’t properly react and I let my emotions control me. I apologize to everyone involved and our team, because our team symbolizes only victories, history and respect,” Arakelyan said in a statement.

He added that he is willing to meet with the child and the parents and personally apologize.

Pyunik lost 1:0 to Dudelange in Yerevan.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the press service of the MFA Armenia, during the negotiations, the parties exchanged ideas on a wide range of issues related to relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, prospects for the development of multilateral cooperation in the Eurasian area, cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as issues related to the "North-South" international transport corridor. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of bilateral relations, which recently have been dynamically developing at the level of Governments, parliaments and local self-governments. According to the Prime Minister, the Armenian-German partnership is based on political, economic and value system interests. "Armenia as a country that shifted to parliamentary system of government in 2018, is interested in exchanging experience with Germany, which has firm traditions of parliamentarianism. The FRG is the largest trade and economic partner of Armenia in the EU. The Vice President of the Bundestag thanked the Prime Minister of Armenia for appreciation and congratulated him on receiving the vote of the Armenian citizens for the implementation of democratic reforms. Katrin Göring-Eckardt emphasized that democracy and parliamentarism contribute to security, stability and development, and Germany is interested in strengthening the political dialogue with Armenia, implementing programs in various sectors of the economy: information technology, renewable energy, etc.

The interlocutors exchanged ideas on the situation and security challenges in the South Caucasus region. The Vice President of the Bundestag noted that Germany attaches importance to regional peace and supports Armenia's steps in that direction. The sides highlighted joint efforts aimed at preserving Christian cultural heritage.

Issues of mutual interest were discussed in the context of the Armenia-FRG economic agenda. Projects in the fields of solar energy and technology were considered promising. In this context, the willingness to continue cooperation was reaffirmed.

YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS. Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan met with European Investment Bank (EIB) Regional Representation for the South Caucasus, Maciej Czura. Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of jointly implemented projects and outlined the upcoming activities.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Yerevan Municipality, with the support of the European Investment Bank, within the framework of Yerevan's energy efficiency project, kindergartens are being overhauled in Yerevan, steps are being taken to include Yerevan's polyclinics and hospitals in the project as well. Within the framework of Yerevan's solid waste management program, it is planned to build a new landfill in the area adjacent to the Nubarashen landfill, as well as to close the existing Nubarashen and Ajapnyak landfills.

The parties agreed to clarify the new directions of cooperation in the near future in order to move the programs to the practical stage.

Attaching importance to the expansion of cooperation, Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan noted that joint projects can play a significant role in improving the quality of life of residents.
