Under the Armenia and the Silk Road heading, CNN writes that Armenia has some of the best walking trails in Europe.

“The 11-day Armenia and the Silk Road trip takes in some of its finest routes, connecting the UNESCO protected monasteries of Sanahin and Haghpat, passing over limestone peaks and through verdant forests, with the opportunity to hike in the wild Geghama Mountains and climb to the top of Aragats, the country's tallest mountain.”

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. On July 26, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan will pay a working visit to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahan Hunanyan said on social media.

FM Mirzoyan will have meetings with Foreign Minister of Czechia Jan Lipavský and President of Senate Miloš Vystrčil.

Within the framework of the visit issues related to the enhancement of the Armenian-Czech relations, strengthening of the cooperation in the field of democracy, Armenia-EU relations, as well as regional security and stability will be discussed.

The meeting of Ararat Mirzoyan and Jan Lipavský will be followed by a press conference of the Foreign Ministers.

UK to host Eurovision 2023

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the BBC have confirmed that the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in the United Kingdom on behalf of this year’s winning broadcaster, Ukraine’s UA:PBC, the Eurovision TV said.

This decision had been made following the exploration of hosting the Contest in Ukraine, and regrettably concluding that for safety and security reasons this was not possible. 

As a result of those discussions, the BBC, as runner up in the 2022 Contest, was invited by the EBU to act as Host Broadcaster for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

Ukraine, as the winning country in 2022, will automatically qualify for the Grand Final of the upcoming Contest.

“We’re exceptionally grateful that the BBC has accepted to stage the Eurovision Song Contest in the UK in 2023,”said Martin Österdahl, the Eurovision Song Contest’s Executive Supervisor.

Neruzh professional repatriation program re-launched

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. The Neruzh government program supporting technological startups of the Diaspora is returning after being re-branded following a 2-year hiatus.

The Minister of High Tech Industry of Armenia Robert Khachatryan said that the goal of the program is to promote professional repatriation, which would contribute to economic progress and the development of the startup eco-system in Armenia.

“Neruzh is the program which connects the innovative mind of Armenia and the Diaspora, becoming an important cornerstone for the possibility of future-oriented projects for our country. The program is a good opportunity for our compatriots living in various corners around the world to return to their homeland, launch their business, live here and have contribution in Armenia’s progress,” he said.

Neruzh 3.0 will take place September 26-30 in Dilijan, with 60 representatives of around 30 startups from around the world expected to attend.

The program is being implemented in partnership with the My Step Foundation.

The new website has been launched and applications are open from July 25 to August 22.

My Step Foundation Director Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said they attach great importance to consolidating the pan-Armenian human capital of the Diaspora in Armenia.

EUR exchange rate up by 0.78 drams to 420.86 drams. Russian Ruble exchange rate down by 0.08 drams to 7.09 drams. GBP exchange rate up by 1.86 drams to 495.64 drams.

The Central Bank has set the following prices for precious metals.

Gold price up by 323.61 drams to 22969.85 drams. Silver price up by 6.16 drams to 248.75 drams. Platinum price stood at 16414.1 drams.

The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Institute of Molecular Biology of the National Academy of Sciences and the Armenian-Russian University, continues to carry out molecular-genetic examination of samples of patients with a positive PCR test for coronavirus disease.

According to ARMENPRESS, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention informs that the following versions were found as a result of the examinations: B 1.1.529 (original version of Omicron), BA.2 ("Stealth" version), BA.4 and BA. 5, which prevails both in the whole world and in Armenia.

Taking into account the epidemic situation, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia once again calls on the citizens to continue to observe the anti-epidemic rules and to get vaccinated, because in the context of regularly appearing new strains, particularly "Omicron", vaccinations, including booster doses, are especially important.

The obligations of the Russian Federation under the grain agreements reached in Istanbul do not prohibit the continuation of the special operation in Ukraine, ARMENPRESS reports, TASS agency informs Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said.

Lavrov emphasized that there are no obstacles to the supply of grain in accordance with the agreements signed in Istanbul.

"The grain terminal of Odessa port is located at a significant distance from the zone of military operations. According to the agreements signed in Istanbul, there are no obstacles for grain supply, and we did not create them," added the Russian Foreign Minister.
