The leader of the Turkish occupation of northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, met with the genocidal dictator of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in Konya, Turkey, reported Greek City Times.

According to the Turkish-Cypriot leader’s written statement, Tatar traveled to Konya to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 5th Islamic Solidarity at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Tatar had a meeting with Aliyev, which lasted about 40 minutes. During the meeting, Tatar informed Aliyev about Cyprus, and said that they follow a harmonious policy with Turkey.

Noting that the meeting took place in a very frank atmosphere, Tatar emphasized that assessments were made on the development of mutual relations between the two countries.

Simply put, the dictator, murderous and corrupt Aliyev, legitimized the pseudo-state.

It is time for Greece to finally sanction this murderer, who has seared Western consciences by handing out at least three billion dollars in bribes to Western politicians and officials, according to News Break, Greek City Times added.

Avetik Chalabyan: This is ‘Nikol Pashinyan vs Avetik Chalabyan’ lawsuit

Aug 10 2022

Public and political activist Avetik Chalabyan said in the courtroom today, August 10, that the verdict in his case has been accepted and is stored on one of the shelves in court.

"Emma Sargsyan and I are accused of the same thing, but from the first day the attitude of the preliminary investigation body towards me and Emma Sargsyan is asymmetrical. In relation to Emma Sargsyan a preventive measure was chosen in the form of written undertaking not to leave the country, and in relation to me the most brutal measure – arrest," said Chalabyan.

According to Avetik Chalabyan, according to the prepared verdict, Emma Sargsyan will receive the mildest punishment, a fine, while he will receive the heaviest punishment, in the form of imprisonment for three years.

"This is not a trial against Emma Sargsyan and Avetik Chalabyan, but the trial of Nikol Pashinyan vs. Emma Sargsyan is an accidental person in this case. Therefore, I propose to drop the charges against Emma Sargsyan. Let's take into account that Emma Sargsyan is a single mother with a child with health problems. Emma Sargsyan, like me, has done nothing. But you are judging me for something else," Avetik Chalabyan said.

Armenia ex-MP: Residents of villages along Lachin corridor are unlawfully being dispossessed of their homeland

Aug 10 2022

The resettlement of residents from villages along the Lachin (Berdzor) corridor contradicts any logic and is an unlawful process; people are unlawfully being dispossessed of their homeland. Gagik Minasyan, representative of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia and an ex-MP, told this to a press conference Wednesday.

He stated that the illegally built new road is located at a maximum distance of one kilometer from Aghavno village, the latter is located in the Lachin corridor whose width is 2.5 km on both sides, and therefore the safe travel of people to and from Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) should be ensured by the new road.

In this regard, the politician expressed bewilderment that the authorities of Armenia, Karabakh, Azerbaijan, and Turkey are telling the local residents to leave their homes.

"This is nothing but dispossession of the homeland. The authorities of Armenia and Karabakh are implementing this very program according to the plans of Turkey and Azerbaijan. All the guilty will be held accountable for this," added Minasyan.

He noted that Turkey and Azerbaijan are constantly talking about the need to fulfill the arrangements.

"What arrangements are we talking about? Obviously, there are unpublicized agreements, as a result of which Kovsakan [(Zangelan)] and other territories were handed over, which, according to the [trilateral] statement of November 9, [2020] should not have come under the control of Azerbaijan.

It is possible that the Armenian authorities received money in exchange for these arrangements, and therefore Turkey and Azerbaijan speak with them in the ‘language’ of blackmail. Otherwise, the representatives of the incumbent regime in Armenia would at least deny these statements. If they don't do it, the Armenian authorities have obviously agreed to these arrangements," Minasyan emphasized.

The former lawmaker noted that the current Armenian authorities are implementing the Turkish-Azerbaijani plan and keeping Armenia under their occupation.

"Therefore, it is necessary to show an appropriate attitude towards them, declare a national liberation struggle, and get rid of them. Any way to liberate the homeland from invaders is permissible. It is necessary to achieve a change of power [in Armenia] in any way, as the process overseen by the treacherous regime leads to irreversible losses," concluded Gagik Minasyan.

Armenian MD hasn’t received parents of deceased servicemen yet

No one from the Armenian Defense Ministry received the parents of the deceased servicemen, who had been waiting for more than five hours.

As Zhora Sahakyan's father Vahrid Sahakyan said, the Defense Ministry said it could not summon the battalion commander Pavlik Karamyan for a confrontation. "We were told that the question of confrontation with Kyaramyan is in the competence of the investigator. On this part we will still decide on our next steps. But we have come here with our demand. We want to meet with the Minister of Defense, because there are questions that concern us. We are waiting for Suren Papikyan to receive us," said Suren Papikyan, the father of fallen soldier.

Reminder: the sons of the parents, who organized a protest demonstration in front of the Defense Ministry building, served in the 4th Battalion of 5th Defense District in Martakert. The parents demand to meet with the battalion commander Pavlik Karamyan, whom they accuse of their sons' deaths, as well as with either Defense Minister Suren Papikyan or his deputy Arman Sargsyan.

Historical and cultural monuments are evacuated from Berdzor, Aghavno and Nerkin Sus

Khachkar, dedicated to the victims of the Genocide, is removed from the territory adjacent to the Holy Ascension Church in Berdzor, Deputy Minister Lernik Hovhannisyan told Artsakh Public Television, adding that if the monuments remain under Azerbaijan's control, they will be destroyed. "Back in February 2021, in the courtyard of Tsakhkavank Church in Tsakuri village of Hadrut region, the President of Azerbaijan clearly stated that the monuments that have been erected for thirty years are to be destroyed. He also said that all Armenian monuments must be written off," he said. Most of the monuments evacuated from Berdzor, Aghavno and Sus will be in the yards of other churches. The martyrs' memorials on the grounds of the Church of Holy Martyrs in Aghavno will be evacuated and moved to the "Yerablur" military pantheon.

The situation in Artsakh heated up from August 1. The Artsakh Republic President Arayik Harutyunyan stated at the meeting of the Security Council convened on August 2 that Azerbaijan through peacekeepers demanded to set up the corridor connecting Artsakh with Armenia by a new route. The next day the Azerbaijani side roughly violated the ceasefire regime and opened fire at the combat positions of the Defense Forces and the permanent deployment of one of the military units with the use of mortars, grenade launchers and assault rifles. On the Armenian side 2 casualties and 19 wounded. Already on August 5 the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Artsakh Hayk Khanumyan stated to the habitants of Aghavno and Berdzor that they should leave their houses till August 25.

It should be mentioned that point 6 of the trilateral statement of 9 November 2020 says that in three years' time a new alternative road will be built to connect Artsakh with Armenia. Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan said on August 4 that the work on the construction of the Lachin corridor alternative road has already begun and will be completed by spring. Azerbaijan has built a 30-kilometer section of the road, which should connect with the road built by the Armenian side. Russian peacekeepers will be stationed on a 5-kilometer section of the new route.

Armenia opposition bloc issues statement on latest development

ArmInfo. The Armenia opposition bloc has issued a statement on the latest developments round Artsakh.

The residents of new Armenian settlements are facing evacuation as a  result of Azerbaijan's military aggression and the Armenian  authorities' defeatist policy.

"In fact, a specific date has been fixed, August 25, an the  authorities responsible for that have not even stated their position.  Azerbaijan is once again violating the trilateral statement by  threatening the closing of the corridor and demanding the surrender  of the adjacent settlements before the dates fixed by the document of  November 9, 2022.

"None of the points of the statement stipulates surrender of  settlements for road construction nor does the statement contain a  point under which the new the new highway is to bypass Berdzor,  Aghavno and Sus.

"This situation is, in fact, a manifestation of genocidal behavior in  the light of international norms.  Therefore, we are witnessing  further gross violations of international law and obviously illegal  demands.  And the Armenian and Artsakh authorities' readiness to meet  those demands at least serves as a basis for claims that we are once  again dealing with agreements behind the people – 'verbal mutual  understanding.' The announced deadline, August 25, is one more  proof," the statement reads.

The Armenian authorities' inconsistent and vague policy results in  lack of cooperation in any field – with the peacekeeping forces, OSCE  Minsk Group Co-Chairs or international agencies.

"Armenian and Artsakh are suffering daily defeat because of the  authorities symbolizing defeat, facing a threat of new irreparable  losses. The Armenian people must unite despite all the dividing lines  the authorities are drawing. The incumbent authorities, which are  serving the Turkish-Azerbaijani interests, are actually implementing  a programme of Armenians' evacuation from Artsakh," the statement  reads.

Azerbaijan has presented an ultimatum demanding resettlement of the   Berdzor, Sus and Aghavno residents until August 25, planning to close   the highway running along the Lachin corridor, while an alternative  highway has not yet been constructed. So Artsakh is facing complete   isolation. Azerbaijan's ultimatum is in conflict with Point 6 of the   trilateral statement Azerbaijan itself is referring to. The   international community is silent about that.  Earlier, Artsakh   Minister of Territorial Administration Hayk Khanumyan discussed   evacuation of the Aghavno, Sus and Berdzor residents with the   Kashatagh residents and local authorities. However, the local   residents will not leave.

Berdzor Mayor Narek Aslanyan reported that the Aghavno, Sus and   Berdzor residents will receive housing certificates – AMD 8mln in   case of moving to Yerevan and AMD 10mln in case of moving to other  Armenian regions. Those wishing to purchase housing in Artsakh will   receive AMD 12mln.

Under the circumstances, 56 residents of Aghavno applied to the OSCE   Minsk Group co-chairs for immediate and active interference and   mediation by France and the United States for the village to be  relocated in the new corridor zone (just 1,200 meters of the area) to   avert a humanitarian disaster, which could deprive them of their way   of life, homeland and even lives.

ArmInfo. The Security Council of Nagorno-Karabakh has explained the visit Secretary Vitaly Balasanyan, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers and representatives  of the Azerbaijani side, paid to Berdzor.

According to an official report, "in response to media reports on the  visit Secretary Vitaly Balasanyan, accompanied by Russian  peacekeepers and representatives of the Azerbaijani side, paid to  Berdzor, the Security Council of the Republic of Artsakh reports that  the visit the Security Council Secretary paid to Berdzor was in  conformity with the trilateral Declaration of November 9, 2020. The  goal of the visit was inspecting the process of construction of a new  highway between Artsakh and Armenia. The visit was paid in  coordination with the Russian peacekeeping contingent and  representatives of the Azerbaijani side.

"The Security Council Secretary is doing his best to ensure peace and  security in Artsakh both ex officio and as a person with extensive  experience, including by diplomatic means.

"We are calling for refraining from reports deceiving the public and  demoralizing society. We are urging you to focus on living and doing  creative work on your land."

A number of media outlets reporters earlier that Mr Balasanyan,  accompanied by Russian peacekeepers and representatives of the  Azerbaijani side, visited Berdzor to show the Azerbaijani the houses  to be placed at their disposal after August 25.

They demand a meeting with RA Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan  andcommander of the 4th regiment of the 5th defensive region of  Martakert Pavlik Kyaramyan, who is blamed for the death of their  sons. The protesters are outraged that no  one has received them for about two hours now.

Let us add that during the war 37 servicemen of the 4th regiment of  the 5th defensive region of Martakert were killed, more than half of  the soldiers were buried a year after the war.

Congressional alarms ringing amid renewed Azerbaijani attacks

Public Radio of Armenia
Aug 10 2022

In the wake of renewed Azerbaijani attacks – on the eve of Aliyev’s most recent bid to ethnically-cleanse Artsakh and sever its links to Armenia – Members of Congress are demanding that the Biden Administration confront Baku’s belligerence by cutting off U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

“The Biden Administration – using our American tax dollars – is today materially contributing to the Azerbaijan military’s ethnic-cleansing of Artsakh, morally emboldening dictator Ilham Aliyev as he seeks to strangle Artsakh by cutting off the Lachin Corridor,” said ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian.  “We thank each Senator and Representative who has raised alarms about Azerbaijan’s actions and join with them in demanding an end to American complicity in Azerbaijan’s genocidal drive to rid Armenians from their ancestral, indigenous Artsakh homeland.”

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Bob Menendez (D-NJ) called for the withdrawal of Azerbaijan troops, tweeting “Azerbaijan’s deadly attacks in Nagorno-Karabakh are not only in violation of the ceasefire but also an unacceptable continuation of its recent pattern of aggression. Azerbaijani forces must withdraw from the region & end hostilities against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.”

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Republican Marco Rubio concurred, noting “Troubling violence is escalating in the ethnic Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh region. #Azerbaijan must immediately put a stop to this conflict and work with #Armenia to reach a peaceful end to this dispute.”

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed (D-RI), called Azerbaijan’s public relations campaign rejoicing in the killing of two Artsakh servicemen “reprehensible.”  In his tweet, Sen. Reed stated, “I am deeply troubled by reports of a return to violence in Nagorno-Karabakh, especially the loss of life. For the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense to release footage of their air strike, as though it is something to be proud of, is reprehensible.”

Joining Congressional Armenian Caucus Co-Chairs Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and Jackie Speier in condemning Azerbaijan’s attacks last week are House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Representatives Katherine Clark (D-MA), Anna Eshoo (D-CA), Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Brenda Lawrence (D-MI), Linda Sanchez (D-CA), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Brad Sherman (D-CA), and Lori Trahan (D-MA).

Rep. Clark tweeted, “Yet again, Azerbaijan is shamelessly violating the ceasefire agreement with Armenia. The State Department must hold the Aliyev regime accountable for its attacks on Artsakh. It is vital that we stand up for the innocent lives at risk, the sovereignty of Armenia, & secure peace.”

Rep. Eshoo noted, “Azerbaijan’s deadly drone strikes against Artsakh are a blatant violation of the 2020 ceasefire. I strongly condemn Azerbaijan’s aggression & urge
@StateDept to use every diplomatic tool available to prevent further escalation, including suspending U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan.”

Rep. Krishnamoorthi emphasized that “There is no place for the violent attacks that we are seeing from Azerbaijan. I urge the Aliyev regime to cease all attacks on Artsakh, and to return to the negotiating table to find a peaceful settlement for all parties.”

Rep. Lawrence urged the State Department to “use every diplomatic tool at our disposal to prevent further atrocities like this attack.”

Rep. Sanchez was disturbed by news of the attacks and condemned Azerbaijan’s unprovoked actions, tweeting, “I am disturbed by reports that Azerbaijan has violated its ceasefire agreement & launched an unprovoked attack on the people of Artsakh. I strongly condemn Azerbaijan’s aggression, & I join the international community in calling for an immediate end to hostilities in the region.”

Rep. Schakowsky demanded Azerbaijani accountability “for yet again violating its ceasefire agreement with Armenia. I urge the State Department to use all of its diplomatic tools to hold the Aliyev regime accountable for its attacks on Artsakh and to prevent future atrocities.”

Rep. Schiff issued a statement on the Azerbaijani attacks, noting, in part, “In this year’s national defense funding legislation and for years past, I have repeatedly called for the immediate release of all Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians, tens of millions in humanitarian aid and economic assistance for Artsakh, a full prohibition on U.S. security assistance to Azerbaijan, and renewed American engagement through the OSCE Minsk Group to reinvigorate the peace process. Each of these actions is critical to defending the Armenian people, and sending a resolute message that America can and will defend democracy around the world.”

Rep. Sherman was emphatic about the disastrous effects of closing the Lachin corridor, tweeting, “Allowing Azerbaijan to cut off the Lachin corridor would jeopardize the security & freedom of ethnic Armenians living in #Artsakh. It is not enough to just condemn this ongoing aggression – the United States must model its values by ending U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan.”

Responding to constituent concerns, Rep. Trahan tweeted, “I’ve heard from many Armenian Americans in #MA3 who are rightly outraged by Azerbaijan’s latest violent attack that has led to tragic and unnecessary loss of life. The U.S. and our allies must condemn this violence and work diplomatically to prevent future escalation.”

Congressional concerns come in the wake of Azerbaijan’s demand that Armenian residents of Aghavno and Berdzor – located in the strategic Lachin corridor connecting Armenia and Artsakh – leave their homes by August 25th.  This is the latest in President Aliyev’s efforts to ethnically cleanse Artsakh’s Armenian population.  The Lachin corridor is Artsakh’s lifeline to Armenia and the world, serving as the primary artery for travel as well as communication, trade, and energy.  Aliyev’s proposed route from Armenia to Artsakh traverses primarily Azerbaijani-occupied territory, making travel unsafe for Armenians and impeding normal trade and communication.
