A police vehicle carrying several protesters detained outside the Armenian government building has crashed in Yerevan, MP Kristine Vardanyan from the opposition Armenia faction said on Facebook.

The van was transporting the “kidnapped citizens” from the Republic Square to the Shengavit Police Department when it was involved in the traffic accident, she said.

“The car crash wasn’t serious, but Igor Sargsyan’s leg was damaged (he was coordinating the work of ARF units thrughout the war), an ambulance was called for him. At the moment, 6 citizens are being held in the Erebuni Police Department,” Vardanyan wrote.

There are 8 protesters in the Kentron Police Department. Another opposition activist Hakob Dashyan’s health worsened and he was taken to the hospital, the MP said.

“I, along with [oppositon MPs] Agnesa Khamoyan and Gegham Nazaryan, visited 2 citizens at the Erebuni Police Department. Everything was relatively okay there,” Vardanyan said.

“The issue will be resolved when we (including through such steps) manage to form an appropriate atmosphere,” she added.

The protest was sparked by the statement of the Armenian Security Council secretary that Azerbaijan would set up customs checkpoints on the Goris-Kapan highway in Syunik Province from Thursday midnight.

‘Armenia’ Alliance: Azerbaijan is the one making decisions instead of Armenian PM, we will not put up with this

The opposition “Armenia” Alliance has issued a statement stating that there will be more concessions so long as the incumbent authorities are in power

“The authorities, which symbolize defeat, made another agreed concession — the Goris-Kapan motorway is fully under the control of Azerbaijan. The capitulator declared that we Armenians will always move freely via that motorway. He was deceiving the people once again, and now he is announcing an alternative road.

Such embarrassing concessions can be expected every day so long as the incumbent regime is in power. The person holding the office of Prime Minister doesn’t decide anything any longer. Azerbaijan is the one making decisions instead of him. The adversary is not only physically present in the sovereign territory of Armenia, but is also setting up customs and border control points in the territory. The incumbent authorities are impotent and won’t show resistance to Azerbaijan. However, we will not put up with this.

This shows that the agenda of the regime to open an era of peace in the region means the loss of sovereignty of Armenia. What happened is a direct threat to the security of our compatriots in Syunik Province in terms of defensibility of Armenia. This also contains serious and unmanageable economic risks.

Dear compatriots, the alternative to this devastating situation is not war (some people are trying to present it this way). The alternative is dignified peace and the formation of a new government that will protect national and state interests. We have laid the foundation for a pan-national resistance against the authorities’ destructive policy. The pressures and violent acts of power structures will not break us down. We will go until the end. Syunik Province will not be ceded, Artsakh will not emptied of Armenians, and Armenia will not be Turkified.

Armenia will be a sovereign state, and Armenians will live in a just and strong country again,” the statement reads.

Azerbaijan FM continues developing ‘Zangezur corridor’ concept

Nov 11 2021

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov continues to develop the concept of the “Zangezur corridor..

The latest respective statements were made at the eighth meeting—in Istanbul, Turkey—of the FMs of the countries that are members in the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council).

According to Azerbaijani media, Bayramov “drew attention to peaceful initiatives in the South Caucasus and the successful cooperation between Baku and Ankara. The 3 + 3 initiative aimed at post-conflict regional cooperation is a vivid evidence of that.”

According to the Azerbaijani FM, “this format can become a useful mechanism of cooperation amid the end of the long-term occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia.”

The head of the Azerbaijani diplomacy expressed confidence that from now on the processes in the South Caucasus will develop in a completely different direction.

“The joint statement by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia on November 10, 2020 was further processed by the adoption of a trilateral statement on January 11, 2021, which refers to the unblocking of communications in the region. Concrete steps are being taken to unblock the transport roads, including the very important Zangazur [(Zangezur)] corridor, which will contribute to the growth of trade in the region. We hope that the colleagues of the Turkic Council will also use these opportunities,” Bayramov said.

To note, the Armenian side has repeatedly stated that there will be no “corridors”, and the unblocking of regional communications implies the opening of roads which will be under the territorial jurisdiction of the countries they are in.

Sports: Caparros apologizes for Armenia national football team losing 0-5

Spanish manager of the Armenia national football team Joaquin Caparros commented on Armenia losing to North Macedonia 0-5 during a post-match press conference.

“First of all, I need to apologize to our fans. We had high hopes and were very excited about this match and aspired to make our fans happy, but the match didn’t go well. We missed a goal during the first minutes, and this had a negative impact on our game. After the match, it is easy to say we could have chosen other players. The newcomers aren’t really to blame for this defeat. The opponent played well, but we didn’t. Now we need to analyze this match, criticize ourselves and understand which footballers are psychologically strong to play during the next match against Germany,” Caparros stated.

The Germany team will play against Armenia on Nov. 14.
