ARMENIAN AMERICAN MUSEUM HOSTS DONOR APPRECIATION RECEPTIONS

Glendale, CA (December 2, 2021) – The Armenian American Museum hosted a series of donor appreciation receptions to celebrate the commencement of construction on the landmark center and honor the generous support of the museum’s Benefactors, Legacy Council, and Founder’s Circle members who have contributed to making the historic milestone a reality.

Executive Chairman Berdj Karapetian welcomed guests to the receptions on behalf of the Board of Trustees and Board of Governors, expressing the organization’s gratitude to the valued donors.

“The cultural and educational center dedicated to our history, culture, and heritage was once a mere idea,” stated Executive Chairman Berdj Karapetian. “Today, we celebrate the construction of the Armenian American Museum that is turning our dreams into reality – a milestone that would not be possible without your generous support.”

Executive Director Shant Sahakian provided a progress report on the development of the museum’s programming for the Permanent Exhibition, Temporary Exhibitions, Auditorium, Learning Center, Demonstration Kitchen, and Archives Center as well as the construction underway at the museum campus in Glendale Central Park.

“We are grateful to have the opportunity to provide an exciting progress report on not only the construction of a building but the creation of a world class institution that is going to serve and enrich the lives of students, families, and community members for generations to come,” stated Executive Director Shant Sahakian.

The receptions were sponsored by Edison International, a valued early corporate partner of the museum.

The Benefactors and Legacy Council Appreciation Reception was held at Vertigo Event Venue on November 23, 2021. The Founder’s Circle Appreciation Reception was held at L.A. Banquets Brandview Ballroom on November 17, 2021.

“Armenia attaches importance to the deepening of friendly relations with Romania, which are based on mutual trust and common values.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Romania. On the eve of this important event for our friendly nations, I reaffirm our country’s readiness to strengthen the inter-state ties with Romania and my invitation to you to visit Yerevan when appropriate.

I am confident that with joint efforts we will develop and expand the bilateral partnership for the benefit of our peoples”, the Armenian President said in his letter.

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan and Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov signed a cooperation roadmap for 2021-2025.

The Yerevan Mayor said in a statement on social media that this roadmap covers cooperation in general education, culture, healthcare and other areas.

“The development and deepening of the relations between the two partner, friendly cities is among our priorities. I invited Mr. Governor to be hosted in Yerevan in the nearest future”, the Mayor said.

Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan is in St. Petersburg on an official visit.

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Moscow assesses useful the OSCE role in the settlement process of the Transnistria and the Nagorno Karabakh conflicts, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement issued ahead of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

“The OSCE plays a useful role in the Transnistria and the Nagorno Karabakh settlement process. We think that the solution of any conflict must be carried out through peaceful political and diplomatic methods, with the direct participation of the conflicting sides and consideration of interests within the frames of the set formats”, the statement says.

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. The Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral working group chaired by the deputy prime ministers will hold a meeting today in the Russian capital of Moscow, the Office of Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan told Armenpress.

The trilateral working group deals with the unblocking of all economic and transportation communications in the region.

During the recent meeting of the Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani leaders in Sochi, President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that the deputy prime ministers will meet in Moscow soon to sum up the results and announce the decisions which were agreed upon by the leaders of their countries on November 26.

Armenian deputy PM Mher Grigoryan and his delegation will be in Moscow from December 1 to 3. He will also take part in the session of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the CIS Economic Council meeting and the 2nd Eurasian Congress.

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. The initiation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) marked the beginning of a new, cornerstone stage of bilateral cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, the Vice Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan said in his opening remarks at the public awareness event of the Strengthening The Capacity Of The National Assembly Of Armenia To Further Support CEPA Oversight And Implementation Twinning Project.

The event was attended by foreign ambassadors and lawmakers, among others.

Rubinyan noted that the entry into force of the agreement in the stage of difficult challenges related to the 2020 war and the COVID-19 pandemic was a positive signal and a significant support to Armenia, including from a psychological perspective. He emphasized the importance of CEPA for Armenia’s modernization, particularly through approximating the legislative framework with EU norms.

“This agreement ensures another circle for the European Union and Armenia to continue joint work for the benefit of the citizens of Armenia,” Rubinyan said, adding that the goals of the government and parliament in Armenia after the 2018 revolution fully match with the outlined obligations.

Vice Speaker Rubinyan noted that the parliament is more than ever inclined to implement its mission of parliamentary oversight for the effective implementation of the obligations and the national roadmap.

“Together with the assistance provided to Armenia in July 2021 within the framework of the Eastern Partnership Economic and Investment Project, the full implementation of the agreement will provide tangible benefits to Armenian citizens and will have significant importance for social-economic restoration and long-term stability of the country. The effective implementation of the obligations assumed under CEPA and a broader reforms agenda will significantly facilitate post-crisis restoration and strengthening of constitutional order and democratic values. The role reserved to the National Assembly has a primary significance in overseeing the progress of implementation of the obligations assumed under the CEPA implementation roadmap,” the Vice Speaker said, thanking for the massive work that has been done within the framework of the Twinning project.

In turn, the EU’s Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin said, in part: “We started this project in a very difficult period of time for Armenia, but I’d like to specially emphasize before members of the National Assembly of Armenia, that this country was able to hold for the second time free, transparent and trustworthy elections, which now allow to continue partnership around the implementation of the CEPA.”

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian health authorities are requiring unvaccinated citizens to produce a PCR test result to their employers every 7 days instead of the currently active 14 days or else face potential termination.

Those who have contraindications against vaccination, persons who’ve recovered from COVID-19 and whose last positive test result was no more than 90 days ago, employees below the age of 18 as well as pregnant women and those who’ve had their first dose and are awaiting the second one are exempt from the requirement.

The mandate will come into force from December 1.

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. On December 1, 2021, the signing ceremony of the Grant Contract for “The Project for Renovation of №13 Kindergarten in Etchmiadzin Municipality” in the amount of USD 90,181 within the framework of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects was held at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.

The Grant Contract was signed between Mr. Fukushima Masanori, Ambassador of Japan to Armenia and Ms. Anna Soghomonyan, Director of №13 Kindergarten of Etchmiadzin Municipality.

The ceremony was further attended by Mr. Arkadi Papoyan, Head of Department for Foreign Relations and Diaspora of the Ministry and Mr. Mher Mkrtchyan, Deputy Mayor of Etchmiadzin.

The project aims to improve the learning and working environment for children and teachers of №13 Kindergarten of Etchmiadzin by renovating classrooms, sports hall, event hall, toilets, kitchen parts and balconies of two buildings of kindergarten. As a result, more than 420 people will benefit from the project.

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Foreigners comprise 1.6% among the people in Armenia who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the ministry of healthcare told Armenpress.

As of November 30, 1 million 262 thousand 961 vaccinations against COVID-19 have been carried out in Armenia. Among those the number of fully vaccinated people is 465,319.

Vaccinations are free of charge in Armenia.

The exchange rate of the US dollar increased by 1.70 drams, making 487.98 drams. The exchange rate of Euro increased by 0.23 Drams, making 552.69 Drams. The exchange rate of Russian ruble increased by 0.10 drams, making 6.60 drams. The exchange rate of British pound decreased by 0.12 drams, making 649.60 drams.

As for precious metals, the price of gold increased by 387.08 drams, making 28309.09 drams. The price of silver decreased by 4.53 drams and made 358.73 drams. The price of platinum decreased by 354.90 drams և made 14810.34 drams.
