YEREVAN, December 2. /TASS/. A trilateral working group with the participation of Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan, Mher Grigoryan, Alexei Overchuk and Shahin Mustafayev, respectively, will continue its efforts on opening regional communications in the coming days, the office of Armenia’s deputy prime minister reported on Thursday.

“The meeting of the trilateral working group co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan will be continued in the coming days. It will be possible to speak about the outcome following the meeting,” Grigoryan’s office stated.

The trilateral working group held a meeting on December 1 in Moscow following the signed statement by all three leaders on November 26 in Sochi.

On November 26, 2021, in Sochi, trilateral negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan were held, marking the first anniversary of the November 9, 2020, joint statement on the complete ceasefire and cessation of all military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Sochi event became the first face-to-face tripartite meeting among these leaders since January 2021 and lasted for about three hours. Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the talks as productive and constructive and hoped for compliance with the agreements.

On January 11, during a meeting in Moscow, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan made a decision to create a working group consisting of the deputy prime ministers from the three countries that would focus on establishing transportation and economic links in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Every single day counts.”

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Ballet is back on stage. That’s good news for dancers and audience members alike. And it’s a life changing decision for an Armenian family who now is sharing their talent with Cleveland.

The ballet “Don Quixote,” performed in 2 acts, marked the Cleveland Ballet’s long-awaited return to Playhouse Square. On stage was husband and wife Narek Martirosyan and Albina Ghazaryan and their nephew Emmanual Martirosyan. The family of Armenian professional dancers were with the New Jersey Ballet when the pandemic hit, shutting down live performances.

“Our ballet career actually doesn’t like when you stop. Every single day counts,” remarked Albina Ghazaryan.

“I was thinking about stop dancing and doing something else,” said Narek Martirosyan.

“I thought I wasn’t going to dance anymore because everything was shut down. I became a full-time teacher basically,” added Emmanual Martirosyan.

The three were teaching dance over Zoom, hoping to get back on stage. They felt time was running out for their dancing careers. That’s when Narek saw a social media post about auditions in Cleveland.

“And then I saw the post. Looking for dancers and I saw this opportunity,” said Narek.

A Zoom meeting with the Cleveland Ballet produced an instant connection.

“The feeling that I knew them for a very long time helped me make the decision to come here,” said Narek.

In August, the trio came to Cleveland for a formal audition, which coincided with Albina’s birthday.

“The way our company meet us and sang for me the birthday song, it was the best thing every. And the cake, they had a cake for me with my name on it. It was very touching honestly,” said Ghazaryan as she smiled.

The auditions were a success, so the family moved to Northeast Ohio where they made their debut over the summer. They also danced in Vermillion, home of the company’s summer residency.

Those first performances helping to ease some of the stress and emotional turmoil of the last year and a half.

“I enjoy dancing with my wife because I know anything I do wrong, she can fix it on the stage. I’m dancing and I feel I have her support,” said Narek.

“I defiantly know from wherever I run and jump he is going to catch me,” added Ghazaryan.

The family are on stage again for “The Nutcracker.” They’re thankful this holiday season for a new home and a new, extended family.

“Since the first day I walked in here, everybody was just super friendly, super welcoming, I felt I know these people for a long time,” said Emmanual.

“The Nutcracker” at Playhouse Square’s Connor Palace runs from Friday, December 3rd to Sunday, December 5th.

What do you do when your heels break in the middle of a beauty pageant? Go barefoot and slay your walk anyway, of course!

This is exactly what Armenia’s Kristina Ayanian did during the Miss Grand International preliminaries on Thursday.

The beauty queen was confidently showcasing her walk and impressive figure in a blue and white bodysuit when one of her shoes suddenly gave out.

Instead of walking uncomfortably, she did what a true queen would do— remove her heels and continue with the show. She even danced around on stage like nothing happened.

Cavite’s Samantha Panlilio is the Philippines’ bet for the Miss Grand International 2021 crown. She hopes to be the first Filipina to win the title.

She landed on the Top 5 Best in Swimsuit fan vote round and on the Top 20 of the Best in National Costume with her “Paruparo” outfit.

The grand coronation night is on December 4 in Bangkok, Thailand.

PanARMENIAN.Net – The Azerbaijani military on Thursday, December 2 opened fire from their positions near Karmir Shuka community of Martuni region, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which lasted for about 10-15 minutes, Karabakh Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan reveals.

Stepanyan said the Azeri troops used mainly firearms, with shots heard in the residential part of the community and bullets reaching the gardens of civilians. No cases of human or material damage were reported as a result of the shootings, the Ombudsman said.

“The Azerbaijani side, violating the ceasefire established by the Trilateral Statement, continues its criminal actions against the rights of the people of Artsakh, violating the right to life of the civilian population, psychological & physical inviolability,” Stepanyan said.

“After the establishment of the ceasefire, we have repeatedly stated that with such criminal actions the Azerbaijani side seeks to intimidate the people living in Artsakh, to achieve the eviction of Armenians from Artsakh by creating an atmosphere of fear and despair.”

The Human Rights Defender believes that in order to curb the criminal actions of the Azerbaijani side, the immediate removal of the Azerbaijani armed positions from the vicinity of the peaceful settlements of Artsakh, and the introduction of impartial investigation mechanisms of ceasefire violations is an “urgent need”.

Situation tense one year after Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh, Armenian FM tells OSCE Ministerial

Public Radio of Armenia
Dec 2 2021

One year after the war of aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the conclusion of the November 9 Trilateral Statement, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains tense, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararart Mirzoyan said in an address to the 28th Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm.

“Since May 2021 Azerbaijani armed forces have infiltrated across the borders of Armenia. Up to now, they maintain and continue strengthening their illegal presence on the sovereign territory of Armenia,” he noted.

“By its aggressive actions Azerbaijan is flagrantly violating the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of the Helsinki Final Act. Needless to say, Azerbaijan’s actions also violate its obligations under the trilateral statement of 9 November on the cessation of all hostilities,” the Foreign Minister stated.

He stressed that another feature of the use of force is a constant attempt of Azerbaijan not merely to hold but also capture Armenian servicemen and civilians. “Not only does Azerbaijan continue to ignore the calls of the international community for the immediate and unconditional release of all Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages, but on a number of instances, most recently on 16 November, its armed forces captured more military personnel in the course of its attack on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.”

No pretext can justify these violent actions, Minister Mirzoyan said, adding that “the continued presence of Azerbaijani armed forces on the territory of Armenia is a factor of destabilization in the region.”

He voiced hope that the November 26 trilateral meeting organized by the Russian Federation would pave the way for undertaking certain measures towards de-escalation of the situation in the region.

“The use of force has never been a way to peace in general and in particular in our region.  The use of force can defreeze dormant conflicts for a certain period of time, but they will get frozen again once there is no negotiated and peaceful solution. War can come as a unilateral choice but peace always requires consent of all sides,” the Armenian FM stated.

He stressed that Armenia is willing to achieve lasting stability in the South Caucasus and is ready for negotiations to achieve that.

“The sooner Azerbaijan embarks on the resumption of the peace process, the better will be chances to achieve comprehensive and durable settlement in our region. The definition of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh based on the realization of the right to self-determination, the safe and dignified return of the displaced Armenian population throughout the entire territory of Nagorno-Karabakh should be substantive issues of negotiations. Equally, the resolution of pending humanitarian issues such as unconditional return of all Armenian POWs and all other captives, inquiry into the cases of enforced disappearances, protection of cultural heritage necessitates the strong engagement of the OSCE and its relevant mandates,” Minister Mirzoyan said.

“With this in mind, Armenia will further contribute towards the resumption of a full-fledged NK peace process under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship in close cooperation with all OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries,” he concluded.
