Civil Contract to nominate Kristine Grigoryan for Armenia HRD post

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party will nominate Kristine Grigoryan for the post of the Human Rights Defender of the country.

If approved, Grigoryan, who currently serves as Deputy Justice Minister, will replace Arman Tatoyan in the position. The latter was elected by the Parliament in 2016 for a period of 6 years.

Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said in October that authorities in Armenia are dissatisfied with the activity of Tatoyan.

This year, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church will celebrate the Feast of the Apostles St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew on December 04. Information department at the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin reports, that according to the Pontifical Encyclical of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the feast was proclaimed as Pilgrimage Day of Holy Lance (Geghard).

On December 03 at 5:30 p.m., on the Eve of the Feast, a Divine Liturgy was offered in St. John the Baptist and St. Vardan Chapel-baptistery of the Mother See. During the Eve of the Feast, the relics of the St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew were brought out.

On December 04 at 10:30 a. m., a Divine Liturgy will be offered in St. John the Baptist and St. Vardan Chapel-baptistery of the Mother See, during which the Holy Lance (Geghard) will be brought out. The relic will remain in the Chapel-baptistery for the worship of the faithful until 6 p. m.

The new provocation of Azeri servicemen in direction of Chartar settlement in Artsakh comes to give the full picture of their previous crimes in October in Martakert and the November incident on the main highway leading to Shushi town, lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook. 

“In the past three months three citizens of Artsakh were killed as a result of the Azerbaijani provocations, an employees of the water and sewage service, a truck driver and a cattleman among them,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook, commenting on the Friday incident. 

“Azeris have one motive to kill an Armenian, disrupt the peace yet to be established and remind of Turkish hatred and true aims,” Abrahamyan wrote, adding the tragic incidents could be prevented if decision makers in Artsakh and Armenia had realized the priorities,  detected the threats on time and taken precautionary measures.”  

In the words of the opposition MP, authorities deliberately keep the public in the status of victims to consistently persuade and justify their defeatist policy. 

To remind, on December 3, a resident of Chartar settlement of Artsakh’s Martuni district Seyran Sargsyan was captured and killed by Azerbaijani military units.

Davit Babayan hopes the Artsakh-centrism would remain among the pillars of Hay Dat activities

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh (NKR) David Babayan participated in the conference of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Hay Dat Committees and Offices, which took place in the Grand Hall of the National Assembly of Artsakh, and delivered a speech, the Facebook page of the minister said. 

David Babayan highly appreciated the works carried out by the Hay Dat Offices and their contribution to the development and strengthening of Artsakh. Babayan expressed gratitude to the ARF Hay Dat for its patriotic activities and expressed hope that the structure would continue its work with the same zeal and dedication and that the Artsakh-centrism would remain among the pillars of its activity.

Baku rejected the Stockholm meeting of the foreign ministers due to visit of Armenian MPs to Artsakh

The Azerbaijani foreign ministry issued statement about the failed meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 28th meeting of Ministerial Council of the OSCE in Stockholm, TASS news agency reported. 

According to the statement, issued by the Azerbaijani side, a few hours before the considered meeting on December 3, Armenian MPs paid what it described ‘illegal’ visit to Nagorno Karabakh and as a response, ‘the Azerbaijani side did not consider it expedient to hold a meeting of Ministers of two countries in Stockholm.’

To note, Armenian foreign ministry spokesperson Vahan Hunanyan earlier commented that the expected meeting between Ararat Mirzoyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov didn’t take place, adding the Armenian side has never avoided meetings in the framework of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. 

Azerbaijani troops kidnap, murder one more Karabakh civilian

PanARMENIAN.Net – Azerbaijani troops on Friday, December 3 broke into the neutral zone near the town of Chartar, Nagorno-Karabakh, “used violence” against an Armenian civilian and murdered him after dragging him to their positions. The civilian was identified by the National Security of Artsakh (Karabakh) as Seyran Sargsyan (b. 1956) who used to be engaged in cattle breeding

Cameras installed on the Armenian side have recorded the the incident and the criminal actions of the Azerbaijanis, the NSS added.

The NSS earlier reported the 65-year-old’s disappearance and said the authorities are taking measures to return the civilian home.

The Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed in the region since the end of hostilities in fall 2020 had been notified about the incident too.

The Azerbaijani military regularly violates the Russia-brokered ceasefire achieved on November 9, 2020. On November 8, a group of four workers from Nagorno-Karabakh were target by the Azerbaijani side, as a result of which three people were injured and one was killed. On October 9, another civilian from Karabakh was killed by an Azerbaijani sniper while working in his orchard near the town of Martakert.

Putin informs Erdogan of results of his Sochi meeting with Armenian, Azerbaijani leaders

MOSCOW, December 3. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday in their telephone conversation on the main results of his meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Sochi on November 26, the Kremlin said in a statement on Friday.

“At the Turkish president’s request, Vladimir Putin informed him about the main results of the trilateral meeting held by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Sochi on November 26, which was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Nagorno-Karabakh statement signed on November 9, 2020,” the statement says.

The Kremlin pointed out that “it is crucial that the talks confirmed Baku and Yerevan’s readiness to cooperate in the context of ensuring stability in the region, and also to establish mechanisms for the delimitation and demarcation of the border between the two states.”

In addition, the statement says that they showed willingness to solve practical issues in restoring trade, economic and transport ties.

“Praising the mediating role of the Russian Federation, Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for further coordination of efforts, including by using the capabilities of the Russian-Turkish center on monitoring the ceasefire and all military activities in the conflict zone,” the Kremlin added.

On November 26, Putin, Aliyev and Pashinyan held trilateral talks in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi, which lasted nearly three hours and yielded a joint statement. The Russian president branded the meeting meaningful and timely, and was hopeful that the agreements would be respected. Moreover, Putin held bilateral meetings with the Azerbaijani president and also with the Armenian prime minister.

Gyumri Information Technology Center partners with IBM to launch AI education program

Gyumri Information Technology Center (GITC) partners with IBM to announce AI educational program in Armenia. Within the framework of the program, GITC and SmartClick offer an advanced course of Artificial Intelligence + admission of a program with a trial period.

The program’s partner company SmartClick, the largest artificial intelligence (AI) company in Armenia, is always looking for AI specialists. According to Rem Darbinyan, Founder and CEO of SmartClick, the demand for specialists in the company will continue to grow, and this program is a good opportunity to train new specialists and provide them with jobs.

The educational program is based on the professional needs of SmartClick and includes AI content of IBM. The graduate with the best final exam results will be given the opportunity to visit IBM’s headquarters in London.

The 6-month course will begin on January 12, 2022, and will be led by SmartClick Data Science technical lead Ardalan Hosseini. Applications must be submitted by December 7 here.

The program currently has more than 100 applicants who will take the exam to participate in the program.

“Members of the GITC Board of Trustees in the United States have been in discussions with IBM about introducing and implementing IBM’s educational programs in Armenia. As a result of the negotiations, we are now implementing the pilot phase,” noted Amalya Yeghoyan, the Director of the GITC, adding that the long-term goal of the partnership is for IBM to consider Armenia as its strategic partner.

According to Julia Game, IBM SkillsBuild Europe Project Manager, it is important for IBM that program students have the opportunity to find a job, the number of participants grows year after year, and that representatives from various vulnerable groups are involved in the future.

Cyprus Parliament adopts resolution condemning Azerbaijani aggression against Armenians

The House of Representatives of Cyprus has unanimously adopted a resolution on Azerbaijan’s ongoing aggression against Armenians and the current situation in Nagorno Karabakh, the Armenian Embassy in Greece and Cyprus informs.

The resolution condemns Azerbaijan’s aggression against Armenia and Artsakh and demands that the provisions of the November 9, 2020 ceasefire statement, including the immediate release of the captives, be implemented.

At the same time, it calls on the international community to act to end Azerbaijan’s aggression against Armenia, as well as to urge international organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Artsakh.

The resolution also condemns Turkish involvement in the war against Artsakh.


Azerbaijani forces kill Artsakh civilian – Ombudsman

The Azerbaijani armed forces have killed the 65-year-old resident of Artsakh, who got lost earlier today and crossed to the territory under Azerbaijani control, Artsakh’s Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan informs.

The National Security Service of Artsakh was alerted about the disappearance of the resident at around 13:00 today.

The incident was immediately reported to the Russian peacekeepers.
