Arman Nur is an Armenian artist who works with many forms. He is a designer, sculptor, jeweller and a painter at the same time. In his Yerevan studio, the artist spends days and nights creating unique pieces. 

We followed Nur from his studio to his gallery where he showed us his famous “The Fly”, which won first prize at the 2017 International Biennial of Contemporary Art. Nur is the first and only Armenian to receive the prestigious award.

Currently 140 people are under quarantine, and 42 receive stationary treatment.

The first case of Covid-19 has been reported in Georgia on February 26.

STEPANAKERT, MARCH 7, ARMENPRESS. During the period from March 1 to 7 the Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire regime in the Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact nearly 160 times by firing more than 1700 shots from various caliber weapons at the Armenian positions, the defense ministry of Artsakh told Armenpress.

The Defense Army forces of Artsakh fully control the situation in the frontline and continue confidently conducting their military service.

STEPANAKERT, MARCH 7, ARMENPRESS. On March 6, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Artsakh Armine Alexanyan, who is on a working visit in the Republic of Cyprus, participated in an event dedicated to Artsakh, which was organized at the initiative of the Armenian National Committee of Cyprus, the Artsakh foreign ministry told Armenpress.

The establishment of a Circle of Friendship with Artsakh in Cyprus, which comprises of members of the Cypriot parliament, City Council, distinguished political figures and scientists was announced at the event.

In her speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister presented the priorities of the foreign policy of Artsakh and the realities in the Republic. She also briefed on the steps towards the establishment of foreign relations at different levels, stressing the importance of the format of parliamentary diplomacy in expanding the involvement of Artsakh in international processes.

Armine Aleksanyan underlined the role of the Groups and Circles of Friendship with Artsakh operating in a number of countries in raising awareness of Artsakh, as well as in creating favorable conditions for the establishment of bilateral relations in various fields.

In this context, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed the importance of establishment of the Circle of Friendship with Artsakh in Cyprus, which will allow to focus the efforts on strengthening and developing the cooperation between the two countries at the institutional level, as well as contributing to raising awareness of Artsakh and promoting the interests of the Republic in Cyprus. շ

Armine Alexanyan highlighted the importance of the active involvement of the Diaspora in the implementation of various development programs in Artsakh, as well as its efficient contribution to the establishment and expansion of foreign relations of the Republic.

Earlier in the day, the Deputy Foreign Minister, accompanied by head of European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy Kaspar Karampetian and the representatives of Armenian National Committee of Cyprus, met with Archbishop Khoren Doghramadjian, the General Catholicosal Vicar of the Armenian Prelature of Cyprus of the Armenian Apostolic Church as well as the leaders and representatives of Cypriot-Armenian organizations. They mutually stressed the importance of holding meetings in such format as a good opportunity to have discussion on issues of Pan-Armenian significance.

Deputy Foreign Minister also visited the Nareg Armenian School and met the leadership and the students of the school.

YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan chaired a consultation during which the development strategy for SMEs was presented.

As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, the PM noted that his Government has set a concept, according to which only labor can overcome poverty. “The 1st idea coming to mind from this concept is linked with SMEs”, Pashinyan said, adding that the perception of SMEs has changed, which were once perceived as an assisting force to the economy, but after a number of economic crises it became clear that they are more flexible and resistant to economic collapses.

Nikol Pashinyan added that during a number of his visits to the European countries he noticed that now some developed countries implement a fragmentation program of large enterprises. “From this viewpoint I think that the development strategy of SMEs has a very important role in the further development of our economy, also for bringing to life our vision of economic revolution. So we have to work to have a good strategy and also to bring it to life in a successful way”, Pashinyan emphasized.

After discussing the strategy for a while, PM Pashinyan tasked to make improvements in it and submit to the Government for approval.

The Constitutional changes are about suspending the powers of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan and 6 members of the Court.

YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS.  Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan will go on holiday from March 10 and will lead the ”Yes’’ campaign of the referendum of the Constitutional changes in different regions and cities of Armenia, ARMENPRESS reports the PM said in a live Facebook broadcast.

”I have a foreign visit on March 9. Tomorrow and the next day we will work and carry out campaign at the same time. We will launch the full-scale campaign from March 10, so I will go on holiday and carry out the campaign in the regions and cities of the country. I will visit all the cities of Armenia and we will hold rallies. I wait for all of you and bow in front of all of you. Don’t forget that on April 5 you should go to polling stations and say ”Yes” to the Constitutional changes initiated by us’’, Pashinyan said.

YEREVAN, MARCH 7, ARMENPRESS. Armenian prime minister’s spouse, chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of My Step and City of Smile charitable foundations Anna Hakobyan on March 6 has been hosted at the Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence of the president of Brazil, where she met with First Lady Michelle de Paula Firmo Reinaldo Bolsonaro, Mrs. Hakobyan’s Office told Armenpress.

The wives of the leaders of the two countries toured the presidential palace of Brazil. Mrs. Bolsonaro introduced Anna Hakobyan on the construction history of the building and the collection of paintings and sculptors. After the tour the two ladies talked about their role and mission, highlighted implementing joint projects.

In her turn Anna Hakobyan introduced the activities of the My Step and City of Smile foundations, as well as the Women for Peace campaign. The wife of the Brazil president said the main direction of her charitable activity is the social integration of people with disabilities.

At the end of the meeting Anna Hakobyan invited the First Lady of Brazil to Armenia. The invitation was approved, and according to the preliminary agreement the visit will take place this year in October.

YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received founder of JHM Foundation, benefactor Lysa Grigorian and CEO of Tumo Center for Creative Technologies Marie Lou Papazian.

 As ARMENPRESS was informed from the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, the guests presented to Pashinyan the pending projects and events in the sphere of tech education among children and youngsters, particularly in Gyumri and other cities of the country. They mentioned that investors now have trust in the Government as a result of which such projects are brought to life and new initiatives emerge.

PM Pashinyan showed interest in the ideas and initiatives presented to him, noting that the Government highlights the activities of JHM and TUMO. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that TUMO has become Armeni’s brand in the international arena and the Governemnt expresses support to the expected projects. Nikol Pashinyan added that TUMO’s programs are in line with the vision of future of the Government, as well as with Government’s priorities for education. According to Nikol Pashinyan, they are aimed at re-modeling of specializations for fitting them with market demands. “It’s important that your projects are not just acts of charity but investment in the future”, Pashinyan said.
