Azerbaijani press: Azerbaijan abolishes Special State Security Service

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on improving management in the field of special state protection.

The Azerbaijani Special State Security Service has been abolished upon the document.

In accordance with the decree, the Azerbaijani Presidential Security Service, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service and the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Facilities have been established.

The Azerbaijani Presidential Security Service, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service and the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Facilities have been instructed to submit proposals to the Azerbaijani president in connection with the relevant provisions, structures and draft lists of senior officers’ positions, including the number of servicemen and employees.

Before the relevant provisions were approved, the Azerbaijani Presidential Security Service, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service and the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Facilities were instructed to ensure fulfillment of the obligations stipulated in the relevant parts of the “Regulation on the Azerbaijani Special State Protection Service”, approved upon the Azerbaijani president’s decree #794 dated December 26, 2012.

The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to submit a bill on the status of the Azerbaijani National Guard to the president within two months and to resolve other issues arising from this decree.

Yerevan City Hall to provide food stored in kindergartens to needy families

“Taking into account the current state of emergency in the country Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan discussed with Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan the issue of providing the food stored in the community kindergartens to the needy families. The food will be provided to the administrations of heads of administrative districts, and their social protection departments will distribute the food to the needy families based on priority”, the statement said.

The Central Bank has set the following prices for precious metals.

YEREVAN, MARCH 17, ARMENPRESS. 8 new cases of the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia, bringing the total number of infected to 72, Healthcare Minister Arsen Torosyan said on Facebook.

“We have 8 more confirmed cases, some of them have been under quarantine from the beginning, whereas the direct contacts of the remaining cases are being clarified. One of these new cases is connected with the case in Etchmiadzin, while the remaining 7 are contacts of a case detected in a manufacturing company in Yerevan. As of this moment, we have a total of 72 confirmed cases, 1 of whom has recovered”, the minister said.

YEREVAN, MARCH 17, ARMENPRESS. 6 new novel coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in Armenia, bringing the total number of infections to 78, Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan announced.

He said the latest cases are direct contacts of an infected person from a manufacturing plant.

The first novel coronavirus case in Armenia was confirmed on March 1.

So far, out of the 78 cases one patient has recovered.

YEREVAN, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan says it’s possible that many people who during this process have been infected with coronavirus, have recovered on their own and do not even know about that, ARMENPRESS reports Pashinyan said in a Facebook Live.

”Analyzing the situation I understand that many citizens get infected and recover without even knowing about it. The health condition of the confirmed cases also tell us about that. Possibly, there are many people who during this period got infected with coronavirus and recovered without knowing that they got sick and recovered”, Pashinyan said, adding that it’s necessary to change the attitude towards coronavirus.

”I think we should change our attitude towards coronavirus, and take it as a disease which is quite dangerous for older people, like the flue. Our main task should be being careful towards our beloved parents and grandparents”, the PM said.

COVID-19: Armenia quarantines hundreds of suspected cases

YEREVAN, MARCH 17, ARMENPRESS. The number of suspected novel coronavirus cases to be isolated is expected to reach 600, Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan said on social media.

“By the end of the day we will have 600 quarantined citizens. It is possible for several hundreds more to be quarantined, then the self-quarantine principle will only be applied,” Torosyan said.

As of March 17, 22:00 (GMT+4), there are 78 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Armenia. One patient, the very first confirmed case, has already recovered.

On March 16th, the government declared a 30-day state of emergency.

City of Glendale Issues Emergency Order for Temporary Business Closures to Slow the Spread of COVID-19

GLENDALE—The City of Glendale issued a local emergency proclamation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in addition to a number of measures already in place across the City to protect members of the public from risk of contracting the virus. Today, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a news release that confirms two cases of COVID-19 in the City of Glendale. Our precautions over the past weeks and what we do over the next few days and weeks will determine how well we weather this emergency.

Following the emergency proclamation, the City’s Emergency Operations Center will be activated. In addition to declaring a local emergency, effective March 17, the City of Glendale issued a supplement to the local emergency proclamation that orders temporary business closures to slow the spread of COVID-19. These include:

  • All bars, banquet halls, and nightclubs in the City of Glendale that do not serve food shall be closed to the public.
  • Any bars, banquet halls, or nightclubs in the City of Glendale that serve food may remain open only for purposes of continuing to prepare and offer food to customers via delivery service or to be picked up. Dine-in food service is prohibited.
  • All restaurants and retail food facilities in the City of Glendale shall be prohibited from serving food for consumption on premises. Restaurants and retail food facilities may continue to operate for purposes of preparing and offering food to customers via delivery service, to be picked up or for drive-thru. For those establishments offering food pick-up options, proprietors are directed to establish social distancing practices for those patrons in the queue for pick-up.
  • All movie theaters, live performance venues, bowling alleys, arcades, and similar entertainment establishments shall be closed to the public.
  • All gyms and fitness centers shall be closed to the public.
  • The following are exempt from this Order:
    • Cafeterias, commissaries, and restaurants located within hospitals, nursing homes, or similar facilities;
    • Grocery stores;
    • Pharmacies;
    • Food banks; and
    • Farmer’s Markets that do not provide for sit down dining and don’t have spaces that are likely to confine 50 people or more in a single space.
  • Trucks and other vehicles engaged in the delivery of grocery items to grocery stores, when such items are to be made available for sale to the public, are hereby exempt from having to comply with any City rules and regulations that limit the hours for such deliveries.

These local orders follow the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health’s order today for all 88 cities and unincorporated communities throughout Los Angeles County, to include Glendale.
