YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS. Serious changes will take place in the labor market as a result of coronavirus and the Government will focus on the creation of new jobs, ARMENPRESS reports PM Pashinyan said during a consultation on the process of the implementation of capital projects.

”We think that the primary tool is the effective implementation of capital expenditures and the expansion of such expenditures. Today in fact, the activities of the Government is divided into two parts. The first part is the activities of the Commandant’s House, the task of which is to prevent the spread of the virus or take its spread under control and creating conditions as soon as possible for more and more businesses to be able to work without resulting in outbreak of epidemic. We all understand that it’s quite a complicated task and this is the reason why the Government declared state of emergency”, the PM said.

According to Nikol Pashinyan, the 2nd direction of the activities of the Government is the development and adoption of social and economic assistance programs, as well as fostering capital expenditures, which become more and more important.

YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS. TV Star Kourtney Kardashian used her time while isolated at home for recalling her visit to Armenia together with Kim Kardashian and her children.

”A big part of this trip was visiting the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, and getting our kids baptized there. It’s not only the first-ever church in Armenia, but is thought to be the first-ever cathedral in the world because Armenia was the first nation to adopt Christianity. It was such a powerful feeling being there. The story behind it is that St. Gregory The Illuminator received a message from God to build the first cathedral in that very spot, and so it’s remained ever since. It has such a solid framework that they’ve only recently begun restructuring it, which is so cool and crazy to me. Having the kids baptized there made us feel reverent and humble, and like the right way to help our kids honor their roots”, she wrote.

She recalled Kim’s speech at World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) in Yerevan, noting that Armenia records real success in technologies.

Noting that they had only 3 days to spend in Armenia, Kardashian said, ”But I watched my kids as we drove around the city, and I could tell that they were really taking things in and soaking it up, quietly listening to stories about our family. They also loved the story about how Noah’s Ark had supposedly landed on the huge mountain in Armenia, Ararat. I think that was exciting for them and made them feel proud to be connected to the country in some way’’, she added.

Kourtney Kardashian also recalled their visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, and highlighted the fact that the kids were able to see everything and will remember for a long time. ”  It seemed important to recognize this historical event with them—it’s something that we don’t talk or read about in the history books as much as we should, but it’s part of our ancestry’’.

Kourtney Kardashian also recalled their photo session dressed in traditional clothing, their visit to a Yerevan restaurant where their tasted Armenian food and their meeting with President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian.

”Even though we did a lot in a short time, I definitely will be coming back with my family to experience more of this country. We still have a lot more history to explore’’, she concluded.

Cairo: Armenian community donates EGP 1 million to Tahya Misr fund for coronavirus response

Ahram Online, Egypt
April 5 2020
Nora Koloyan-Keuhnelian , Sunday 5 Apr 2020
On the day the Armenian community in Egypt, together with the Western world, celebrated Palm Sunday, head of the community, Primate of the Armenian Orthodox Church in Egypt Bishop Ashod Mnatsaganian, revealed to Ahram Online his community’s donation of EGP 1 million to the state charitable fund Tahya Misr to support the Egyptian government’s efforts in combating the coronavirus pandemic.

“We owe it to this Holy Land. It is the least we can offer as a helping hand to fight this pandemic in a country that showed a warm attitude towards our nation in the past and continues to do so at present, for which we are grateful,” Mnatsaganian told Ahram Online via telephone immediately after the Holy Mass of Palm Sunday.

The mass was broadcast live on the Facebook page of Egypt’s Armenian Diocese from Cairo’s St Gregory the Illuminator’s Church, for community worshippers to follow with prayers.

Armenians have been present in Egypt since the 8th century CE. Their number increased during the 12th to 16th centuries, and a community was formed in the 19th century after the genocide perpetuated by Ottoman Turks.

##

On 15 September 1915, four French warships, including the Guichen, and one British naval vessel, transported 4,231 refugees from Musa Ler or Mount Moses — a site of Armenian resistance — to Port Fouad of Port Said, where they lived peacefully in camps until they were able to return to their homes in November 1919.

As Armenia is the first nation to adopt Christianity as its official state religion, in 301 AD, the Armenian nation is very much attached to its church. Armenians are also keen to preserve their language and culture and expose it to broader sections of Egyptian society and to the whole world. The contributions Armenians have made to Egypt are too numerous to mention.

This is not the first time the community has made such a gesture. In September 2018, while the Egyptian Ministry of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs was celebrating “Egyptian-Armenian Fraternity” in the presence of Armenia’s then Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the community made a similar donation, EGP 1 million, to the Amiri Main University Hospital in Alexandria.

YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS. Head of Armenia’s civil aviation committee Tatevik Revazyan, who is on maternity leave, denies the rumors that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has deprived “Armenia’s civil aviation of license”. Two airlines have simply been temporarily deprived of the right to fly to European destinations. ARMENPRESS reports Revazyan referred to this issue in an interview with Petros Ghazaryan on Public TV by video call, the Committee has also issued a statement.

”No international organization can deprive the Committee of Civil Aviation of its rights to implement its powers and this has nothing to do with reality. I simply deny it. The issue is that there is a separate procedure for carrying out flight to Europe, which refers to the airlines registered in Armenia. And it’s right, they have temporarily been deprived of the permission to conduct flight to Europe. And now we expect clarifications from the European side why that made that decision so quickly”, she said.

She reminded that a month ago they had informed that checks would be conducted in Armenia and the final results had to be presented in May. ”As I had mentioned months ago, our Civil Aviation Committee must undergo serious changes because our approaches do not meet the expectations of our European partners”, Revazyan said, noting that the problems have very old roots that cannot be solved in one day.
