YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on appointing Armen Abazyan Director of the National Security Service.

The President signed the respective decree based on the Prime Minister’s proposal.

The decree is posted at the official website of the President.

Earlier today Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has submitted a proposal to President Armen Sarkissian on dismissing acting Director of the National Security Service, Colonel Mikayel Hambardzumyan.

Deputy NSS chief of Armenia dismissed

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Mikayel Hambardzumyan has been dismissed from the position of deputy director of the National Security Service of Armenia according to the presidential decree.

According to another presidential decree, Hambardzumyan has been relieved also from the position of acting NSS Director.

President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian signed the respective decrees based on the proposal of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Colonel Mikayel Hambardzumyan has been appointed deputy director of the NSS on August 11, 2020 according to the presidential decree, but according to another decree he was appointed acting director of the NSS on October 8, 2020.

Turkish defense and foreign ministers visit Baku

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Turkey’s defense minister Hulusi Akar and foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, RIA Novosti reports.

The Turkish defense and foreign ministers have already met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Recently Turkish top officials are frequently visiting Azerbaijan.

The Russian Kommersant has recently published an article, stating that the Turkish defense minister has been in Baku on September 28-30 and personally led the war unleashed against Artsakh.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The Defense Army of Artsakh carried out offensive measures and attacks in Martuni direction, ARMENPRESS reports representative of the MoD Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page.

‘’A little more intensive, but not like in Shushi, clashes continue also in Martuni direction, where we carried out 1-2 offensive measures and attacks. There is stability in that direction’’, Hovhannisyan said.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The Azerbaijani armed forces bombed the capital of Artsakh Stepanakert on November 8 at 18:30, injuring one civilian, ARMENPRESS was informed from the State Service of the Emergency Situation of Artsakh.

‘’During the day the situation in Artsakh’s settlements was stable but tense.

The stable situation in Stepanakert continued until 18:30. A while ago the city was bombed. There is one injured among the civilians.

The rescuers provided first aid to the injured and took to a medical center. His life is under risk.

Air raid siren in Martakert was activated twice today. The adversary tried to use military aviation against the city.

The situation in Martuni city was again calm. Today the adversary used heavy artillery here at midday against civilian infrastructures.

The situation was relatively calm in Askeran, Kashatagh and Shahumyan regions’’, reads the statement.

Artsrun Hovhannisyan thinks tomorrow battle for Shushi will be over – DEVELOPING

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Defense Ministry spokesperson Artsrun Hovhannisyan thinks that the battle for Shushi city of Artsakh that has been going on for the last days, can be over tomorrow, ARMENPRESS reports representative of MoD Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan said on Public TV.

”Clashes take place inside and nearby Shushi. Our troops carried out stubborn and skillful fights. I can say that the separate battle for Shushi that went on during the last 3-4 days, will be over tomorrow. I don’t want to give an early prediction but I think tomorrow the battle for Shushi will be over’’, Hovhannisyan said.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The air defense units of the Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh destroyed to Azerbaijani UAVs north-west from Stepanakert at about 19:30, ARMENPRESS reports spokesperson of MoD Armenia Shushan Stepanyan wrote on her Facebook page.

”Tensions on the front line remain. Artillery and mortar shooting takes place between the sides. A military column of the adversary was detected in the south-eastern direction.  A great number of manpower and equipment were destroyed by a targeted fire. The Defense Army confidently carried out its military task, owearing out the enemy’s combat potential continues”, she wrote.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Representative of the Defense Ministry of the Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan informed that the situation on the front line remains tense. Hovhannisyan said in a press conference that the clashes continued along the entire frontline from night and throughout the day in different directions.

”The clashes were quite intensive. In the northern direction small combat groups tried to attack our positions reinforced by artillery fire, but suffered losses and retreated. After recording some success in Martuni direction by the Azerbaijani armed forces, our troops were able to stop the adversary and repel to their initial positions, inflicting heavy losses. The clashes inside Shushi, nearby Shushi and on the roads were quite intensive during the entire day”, ARMENPRESS reports Hovhannisyan as saying.

He added that at the moment there are some clashes, but at a much lower intensity.

Hovhannisyan emphasized that in the direction of Berdzor the Azerbaijani armed forces made a number of attempts to break in the front line and head to Berdzor, probably, trying to reach and support their troops near Shushi, but suffering heavy losses, fled. ”At the moment the clashes continue and the overall situation can be assessed as quite favorable. Our troops are able to hamper all the attempts for a success of the adversary, but the clashes are still going on. It’s already 3-4 days that in fact, clashes for Shushi continue at night hours”, Hovhannisyan said.
