YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan has announced that the defenders of the Homeland are standing until the end in the ongoing fight for life or death.

“Dear compatriots, I met one of the most difficult daybreaks of my life at the Revival Square in Stepanakert. We stand with the defenders of our Homeland until the end. The fight for life or death continues”, the President said on Facebook.

STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Overnight November 7-8 the situation has been tense in Stepanakert as the capital of Artsakh has been reportedly hit with missiles by the Azerbaijani forces, the State Service for Emergency Situations told Armenpress.

“8 long-range missile strikes were fired at the city’s apartment buildings, residential districts, public facilities and other civilian infrastructure.

According to preliminary reports, there are no casualties.

In other communities, the relative calm situation has been maintained”, the Service said.

SHUSHI, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The city of Shushi of the Republic of Artsakh is resisting the strikes of the Azerbaijani side despite the numerous damages, the State Service for Emergency Situations of Artsakh reports.

“Despite the numerous destructions the city is resisting the adversary’s strikes”, the Service said.

Overnight November 7-8 the situation has been tense in Stepanakert as the capital of Artsakh has been reportedly hit with missiles by the Azerbaijani forces. 8 long-range missile strikes were fired at the city’s apartment buildings, residential districts, public facilities and other civilian infrastructure. According to preliminary reports, there are no casualties. In other communities, the relative calm situation has been maintained.

COVID-19: Armenia reports 2175 new cases, 921 recoveries in one day

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. 2175 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Armenia in the past one day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 106,424, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention said today.

921 more patients have recovered in one day. The total number of recoveries has reached 64,179.

4790 tests were conducted in the past one day.

26 more patients have died, raising the death toll to 1559.

The number of active cases is 40,281.

The number of patients who had a coronavirus but died from other disease has reached 405 (2 new such cases).

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Overnight November 7-8 the battles with variable intensity continued in all directions of the Artsakh frontline. Heavy operations took place near Shushi and in the south-eastern part from the city. The Defense Army units inflicted targeted blows on the Azerbaijani forces, repelling multiple attempts to advance, the Defense Ministry of Artsakh told Armenpress.

During the battles in different directions a large amount of the adversary’s manpower has been eliminated, 4 tanks, 20 other armored equipment, 11 vehicles and 2 UAVs of the Azerbaijani side have been destroyed.

“In line with the combat operations the adversary has also targeted Artsakh’s capital Stepanakert and Shushi with rocket-artillery systems. Civilian infrastructure have been damaged. At dawn, accumulations of the Azerbaijani equipment and manpower were observed in the south-eastern and north-eastern directions of the frontline. The Defense Army units control the operative-combat situation and take countermeasures”, the statement says.

“Parliament Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan was taken to a hospital. He has injuries. Fortunately, there is no danger to his life,” says chief of staff to Armenia’s Prime Minister Eduard Aghajanyan.

Mirzoyan was beaten early Tuesday morning by a group that has gathered near Armenia’s parliament to protest Nikol Pashinyan’s signing of an agreement over the Karabakh War.

Few hours before, Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page that he has made the difficult decision to sign a statement with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin. A group has stormed the National Assembly demanding answers from officials regarding the deal with Azerbaijan and Russia.

ECHR demands Azerbaijan to provide information about 6 Armenian POWs

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has demanded the Azerbaijani government to provide documented information about the location, detention conditions and medical servicing of 6 more Armenian prisoners of war, setting a concrete deadline, human rights advocate Artak Zeynalyan said on social media on behalf of himself and attorney Siranush Sahakyan.

The following 6 Armenian servicemen – Samvel Knazyan, Samvel Kastaktsyan, Hovsep Sahakyan, Vahe Abrahamyan, Gegham Albakyan and Norik Arakelyan, have been captured during the ongoing military operations launched by Azerbaijan against Artsakh.

Zeynalyan informed that Armenia has also submitted a case to the ECHR over the protection of rights of the 6 servicemen who are in the Azerbaijani captivity.

Based on the videos spread by the Azerbaijani media, these servicemen have been identified or the fact of their captivity has been confirmed through calls or messages made to their family members from their phones.

“On behalf of the families of Armenian captives, appeals have been submitted to the European Court, requesting to apply an urgent measure to protect their rights to life free from inhuman treatment. The European Court demanded the Azerbaijani government to provide documented information about their location, detention conditions and medical servicing. The Court set a deadline on November 13 for providing the required information”, Zeynalyan said.
