Armenian Defense Minister holds meeting with Russian peacekeeping mission commander

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan held a meeting on November 11 with Lt. General Rustam Muradov, the Commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed to supervise the armistice in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone, the defense ministry said in a news release.

Tonoyan thanked Lt. General Muradov for the rapid formation and deployment of the peacekeeping mission and expressed readiness to provide comprehensive support during the mission.

The implementation and organization of the peacekeeping unit’s mission were discussed.

Protesters march to government headquarters

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Protesters at Freedom Square calling for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation are heading towards the government headquarters in downtown Yerevan.

ARF Supreme Body Representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan said they are also demanding parliament to convene an emergency session.

Meanwhile, dozens of demonstrators have been detained by police for violating the martial law’s ban on gatherings.

The anti-government rally was organized by 17 political parties over the conditions of the Karabakh armistice.

The parties who called for the rally include the Republican Party of Armenia, Prosperous Armenia Party, the ARF, Fatherland, National Security, Freedom, National Agenda, National Democratic Union, National Consent, Alliance Progressive Centrists, Democratic Alternative, Yerkir Tsirani, Solidarity, Democratic Liberal Union of Armenia, Christian-Democratic Union, One Armenia, and Constitutional Rights Union.

41 detained protesters released

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. 41 detained protesters have already been released, police told ARMENPRESS.

A total of 129 protesters were detained from Freedom Square in Yerevan where an anti-government rally was organized calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Police warned the organizers of the rally that gatherings are banned under the martial law.

President Sarkissian meets with Republic party chairman Aram Sargsyan

Protesters demand emergency session of parliament

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are heading to the parliament building.

The demonstrators demand lawmakers to convene an emergency session and sack Pashinyan.

“We demand parliament to convene an emergency session in the next few hours and quickly solve the prime minister’s dismissal,” said ARF Supreme Body Representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan, one of the organizers of the rally.

The rally is organized by 17 political parties demanding the resignation of Pashinyan over the conditions of the Karabakh armistice. Police detained 129 people during the rally because gatherings are banned under martial law. 41 of them have already been released.

Russia to open trade mission in Syria in 2020

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. The Russian government will establish a trade mission in Syria this year. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a relevant decree on November 10, reports TASS.

“The trade representation of the Russian Federation in the Syrian Arab Republic to be established in 2020 in the city of Damascus”, the decree reads.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is tasked to approve the structure and the staff list of the trade mission.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Spokesperson of the Armenian prime minister Mane Gevorgyan denies the reports according to which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a letter to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

“A photo is being spread on the internet which allegedly shows the PM’s letter addressed to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. No such “letter” has ever existed, it’s fake”, the spokesperson said on Facebook.

CSTO welcomes Karabakh armistice

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) welcomes the adoption of the statement on ending the Nagorno Karabakh war, the organization’s Secretary General Stanislav Zas said.

“We welcome all actions which lead to establishment of peace in the region and stopping bloodshed. The CSTO had numerously called upon the sides of the conflict to return to the ceasefire regime and settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict exclusively through peaceful negotiations,” Zas said.

He also positively assessed the decision to deploy Russian peacekeepers to the conflict zone.

“We believe that the deployment of Russian peacekeepers is a significant deterring factor for the sides not to use force. We once again remind that a solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is possible only by political-diplomatic methods,” he said.

Opposition Bright Armenia faction initiates petition on convening emergency session of Parliament

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Opposition Bright Armenia faction of the Parliament has initiated a petition proposing to convene an emergency session, faction head Edmon Marukyan said on Facebook.

“Dear citizens, I would like to inform that the Bright Armenia faction has initiated a petition, with the proposal to convene an emergency session of the Parliament during which the current situation and ways to get out of it, as well as the legality of the statement signed by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on November 9 will be discussed based on the agenda presented by us”, Marukyan said.

He added that petition requires signatures of 33 lawmakers according to the Constitution of Armenia.

17 political parties in Armenia have organized a tally today in protest of the document signed by PM Pashinyan relating to the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

During the rally member of the opposition Prosperous Armenia faction Naira Zohrabyan informed that they are initiating a process of convening an emergency session.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party lawmakers are entering the parliament building to launch the process of convening an emergency session seeking to dismiss Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Prosperous Armenia Party lawmaker Naira Zohrabyan said.

Prosperous Armenia is among the 17 political parties who have organized a mass rally in protest of the conditions of the Karabakh armistice signed by Pashinyan.

“We are now entering the National Assembly building and we are starting the process of convening an emergency session. We are waiting for our colleagues from the Bright Armenia party, dear My Step bloc lawmakers we are waiting for you in parliament,” Zohrabyan said.
