YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Five medics from the United Kingdom have arrived in Armenia to help their Armenian colleagues in controlling the treatment process of patients infected with COVID-19 who are in serious condition, the WHO Country Office in Armenia told Armenpress.

WHO representative in Armenia, Dr. Egor Zaitsev welcomed the UK emergency medical team (EMT) in the WHO Armenia Country Office thanking them for their commitment to provide professional assistance to the country during these dire times of pandemic response.

The medical workers have responded to WHO call, and have been deployed to Armenia with the support of Armenia’s Ministry of Health and British Embassy, and WHO.

“This team has a valuable experience. During the pandemic they have been sent to numerous countries, have also been engaged in the COVID-19 response measures in the United Kingdom. I am sure this professional team can transfer its knowledge and skills to the Armenian medics, assisting the treatment of COVID-19 patients”, Egor Zaitsev said.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. On November 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh Masis Mayilian received a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) headed by Mr. Pascal Hundt, Senior Representative of the ICRC, the Artsakh MFA told Armenpress.

Issues related to the withdrawal of the bodies of Armenian servicemen killed as a result of the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression unleashed against the Republic of Artsakh on September 27, the fate of the missing and the release of prisoners of war and hostages were discussed at the meeting.

In this context, Masis Mayilian noted the importance of the earliest possible implementation of measures in these areas.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Pascal Hundt informed about the humanitarian aid that the ICRC Office in Artsakh, in cooperation with the state bodies of the republic, is providing to the civilian population to meet their urgent needs.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s economic activity index has declined 6.7% in January-October 2020 compared to January-October 2019, according to the data released by the Statistical Committee.

Industrial production volume grew 0.5%. The construction volume declined 13.3%. 12.5% decrease was registered in the trade turnover, and the volume of service has dropped 12.8%.

Consumer price index grew 0.9%.

Electricity production increased 1.7%.

Decline was also registered in external trade turnover volumes – 11.4%. The export decreased 4.4% and the import -14.9%.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan continues meetings with the business community representatives aimed at discussing issues relating to the restoration of Armenia’s economic activity and investment climate, the PM’s Office told Armenpress.

Today the Prime Minister received Director General of the Armenian Electric Networks CJSC Karen Harutyunyan, Gazprom Armenia CJSC Chairman of the Board-General Director Hrant Tadevosyan, RENSHIN construction-investment company General Director Eduard Marutyan, Nushikyan Association founder chairman Garegin Nushikyan.

Issues relating to the strengthening of the government-business ties, ensuring the continuation of investment programs, restoring the economic optimism were discussed.

Concrete agreements were reached based on the meeting results.

Head of the Bright Armenia faction of the Armenian Parliament Edmon Marukyan has applied to the President and two Vice-Presidents of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture, urging to pay an urgent visit to Azerbaijan to observe and prevent the possible inhuman treatment cases against the captured Armenian servicemen and civilians.

“In order to save the lives of Armenian servicemen and civilians captured by Azerbaijan, as well as to make their future exchange possible I have applied today to the President and two Vice-Presidents of the CoE Committee for the Prevention of Torture, urging to organize an urgent visit to Azerbaijan to examine and prevent possible inhuman treatment cases against the Armenian prisoners of war”, Marukyan said.

He reminded that the CoE Committee for the Prevention of Torture is the only body having a free access to any closed structure in Azerbaijan.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan visited the ARF member Gegham Manukyan who is on a hunger strike since November 23 outside the government headquarters demanding the premier’s resignation.

Gevorgyan told reporters that she came to get acquainted with Manukyan’s health condition.

“I personally came to see how my colleague is doing,” Gevorgyan said. “Yes, of course I’ve talked about this with the Prime Minister, he was also asking how they are doing,” she said.
